Description
We recently recovered an old ruin in Trafaria, right by the Tejo river, with the help of Lisbon Architect Inês Brandão. The scenic Belém district lies just across the river, a short beautiful boat ride away. Stunning views and a quiet house with a private garden make this a prime location to enjoy the city of Lisbon, Trafaria's famous sea-food and fish restaurants on the river side, and the amazing coast of Caparica, a long sand beach that stretches over more than 20 km along the Atlantic ocean. The space The house is completely new and fully equipped. The garden has a deck right outside the living room, easily accessible through glass doors. One of our main objectives when recovering the house was to maximise the flow between indoor and outdoor areas. There is a barbecue next to the wooden deck, with an outdoor dinning area for everyone to enjoy the amazing weather of Lisbon. You can get delicious meat to grill from the butcher, or fresh fish from the market, right on the main square, a 5 minutes walk from the house. We hope you will enjoy our garden too, with our tiny little plants and trees that we care for and wish to see grow season after season when returning to our home town for holidays. We have also just installed a large PV Solar system, meaning that your daily energy needs will be met by the sun! The system produces enough energy to allow the Air Conditioning units to keep the house fresh during the hot summer days. There is also ample space to park a large car in the garden and lots of space right outside the house (free street parking) if you're coming with an extra car or having friends over for a visit. Guest access Guests have the full house at their disposal. This is our home, which we took great care to rebuild while maintaining the main historical architecture form the original house. We wanted to have a home for the holidays and family reunions, as I am originally from Costa da Caparica (the beautiful beaches 10 min away). We wanted to renovate a house in the historical town of Trafaria, in old times the major beach resort for Lisbon socialites and then forgotten for several decades as people moved towards the pristine beaches of Caparica. About 10 years ago, the town got a renovated appeal as several top restaurants focusing on typical sea-food cuisine opened along the river front and around town. This made Trafaria a popular place again, and people living in Lisbon now often take a boat ride from Belém for a long week-end lunch. Still, Trafaria is a relatively unknown gem to discover in the now booming tourism of Lisbon. Registration Details 71437/AL
