Set up for multiple dog & horse owners, we sleep 7 in 3 bedrooms. We have a private driveway, enclosed garden, paddocks, kennels & stables. Horses & dogs welcome free. Walks from the doorstep. Red squirrels, deer, pheasants, grouse, rabbits and other wildlife can be seen from the windows and garden. Visit the nearby waterfalls, sweeping vistas and underground mines not to mention amazing walks, fishing, cycling and even skiing on your doorstep! Cranmore House is perfectly positioned between the Lake District, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and County Durham border, which means that you are able to explore not 1 but 4 beautiful counties, all different. Perfect for the C2C cycle route and the Pennines Way as well as Hadrian's Wall. We are positive that you will want to keep on coming back to our beautiful cottage simply because you won't have enough time to see everything in one stay! In the highest village in England (so they say) you will find that Cranmore House is your respite from the stresses of modern life. Relax in front of the delightful log burner, or traditional open fire (a rarity nowadays!) cook on our wood fuel Aga- Rayburn cooker, enjoy modern conveniences in our well equipped kitchen. Book secure in the knowledge that you will be sleeping in massive comfortable bedrooms with crisp, luxury hotel standard linen, feather duvets* and comfortable mattresses that you can sink into after a busy day of exploration or relaxation. *Also hypoallergenic linen available for vegan/allergic guests. We love dogs! We pride ourselves on being a super dog friendly place with enclosed garden, towels, treats, special dog tags and throws for your benefit. We know that it is important on your holiday that you don't have to keep on worrying about your furry friends. The entire spacious ground floor is oak flooring and stone tiles, which is perfect for dogs to stay. We welcome multiple dogs, any breeds and even have the option of dog pen, utility room or kennels should you need to keep a large number of dogs somewhere safe if you have to go out. We have an outdoor tap for washing down those muddy paws too! We are very popular with families as our homely cottage is perfect for family reunions. **Cats are not allowed due to allergies of the owner. This spacious cottage is perfect for a large family or group of friends. It was made for entertaining, with its massive open plan dining room and kitchen and olde worlde ambiance with a modern twist. We provide everything that you may need to impress friends and family with your culinary or mixologist skills, from a slow cooker, freestanding cake mixer to coffee machine to panini grill and blender, we have it. If you need something in particular, send us a message and we will make sure you have it. Your stay is our priority. We know how important it is that you enjoy yourself and make yourself totally at home. We even have the option of booking our neighbouring cottage, Camellia, for an extra group of 8 to stay. Curl up with a good book in front of the log burner in the snug. Or play some family boardgames in our living room, which boasts an open fire. We also provide an Xbox One with games and 2 flat screen TVs downstairs for our guests to use. Throw some logs on the fire, grab a peppermint tea, cover yourself with our luxury faux fur throws and relish that sense of hygge you are feeling, picture perfect moments at the ready! Be woken up in the morning by the call of the resident owl, or smile at the sight of the pheasants and grouse that like to explore the garden from time to time. If you are particularly lucky, comment in our review if you saw our neighbours the tufty eared red squirrels, English native squirrels at risk of extinction, so keep a camera at the ready, they do tend to dart into our garden from time to time. For warmer nights, sit out on the terrace around the firepit, with a chilled glass of bubbly and marvel at the beautiful dark skies and stars on display, perhaps you will be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights or enjoy a lovely barbeque. Nenthead claims to be the highest village in England and is a special place to be. Make Cranmore House your base and delight at this secret part of England that demands to be revisited again and again. Suffice to say you will be generously rewarded going off the beaten path with the trails, walks and views that this area has! We are animal and nature lovers and as such we can welcome your horsey friends too, for free, in our DIY stables but this should be arranged in advance to avoid disappointment. Let us know in advance if you need secure storage for bicycles, canoes, etc. We have lots of space!
