PENTHOUSE PRISON (in) THE HEART OF ROTTERDAM
PENTHOUSE PRISON (in) THE HEART OF ROTTERDAM
Description
Penthouse Prison, located in the heart of Rotterdam situated on the top floor of the former PoliceBuilding. A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY Penthouse Prison is part of a social project, called Heilige Boontjes. The basic idea is that young Rotterdammers - that have a so-called distance to the labour market - will be helped and trained to get and hold a job in the cafe, restaurant on the ground floor and the Bed&Breakfast on the top floor. The space Of the complex of 6 prison cells, 4 cells have been converted with modern beds for comfort, but the general impression of the prison is still intact. There is one cell with a queen sized bed and three with a single bed. One cell is used as a toilet and one is used for general purpose to relax with a tv and books. Thanks to the unwavering commitment of Daan Bakker from Daf-architecten, the building has been given a new future while retaining its social purpose. Guest access You will have acces to the kitchen and the shower on the fourth floor, which can also be used by other tenants. However this will be exceptional as they have their own pantries on each floor. Warning: the shower does have warm water but it is spartan like a prison shower. You will also have access to the unique roof terrace with a view of the Rotterdam Skyline as well as the 19th century buildings on the Mauritskade. On the ground floor you have access to the Heilige Boontjes cafe for breakfast, lunch dinner and their wonderful coffee. Ask them for special services like having your breakfast on the roof terrace! At night when Heilige Boontjes Cafe is closed you wil still have access to Penthouse Prison at the back of the building. Other things to note The name Heilige Boontjes is in Dutch a specific name that usually brings a smile to the faces especially when mentioned in the context of this social project. The literal translation of Heilig Boontje is Holy Bean It actually means somebody who pretends to be holy but in fact is not, a plaster saint. One more thing: It may seem that there is a very relaxed drugs policy in the Netherlands. The use of soft drugs is allowed in coffeeshops. It is not allowed to use drugs in public spaces. At Heilige Boontjes and Penthouse Prison we have a NO DRUGS POLICY. The reason is very simple, we work with youngsters who are trying to reintegrate into society. That is difficult enough without drugs and with the temptation of drugs around even more so. If this rule is not respected by our guests, we will reserve the right to end your stay with us. If you want to drugs, please go to a coffeeshop. Registration Details 0599 0C6B C6D7 6630 FDA9
