Description
Nestled in a quiet valley hillside, Stonecrop is a 300-year-old character miner's cottage featuring breathtaking views, tranquil silence, and a quirky collection of antiques, books and curios. You'll love Bradwell's traditional working village feel, selection of walks and cycling routes, pubs and shops, and easy access to the entire Hope Valley area. The cottage will be entirely yours for the stay, and our guests describe the cottage as "super dog friendly"! The space The cottage features a lovely wildflower garden with hill views and barbecue patio. A bright and airy conservatory with space for dirty boots leads to a warm, cosy living room, sitting space for up to 6, smart TV, board games and a selection of new and old books to enjoy. There’s also a little dining table that opens up for you and your guests. This leads on to a bright and contemporary kitchen, full of old time cottage charm but equipped with everything you might need, including a four-ring gas hob, oven, fridge-freezer, coffee machine and washing machine. Up the mezzanine staircase you'll find a quiet landing and dedicated workspace, and a small but charming bathroom with a bath (no standing shower). Finally, through a quirky low cottage door, there's a gorgeous, warm, cottage-style bedroom with antique furniture, large wardrobe, stunning views over the valley, and a standard-double oak sleigh bed with luxurious linen over a cloud-like mattress. Please note this is an older property with some smaller rooms and low (160cm) doorways; some reviewers say it's not suitable for taller guests. Guest access This is a typical old Peak District village - meaning steep, narrow, winding streets and a bit of a hunt for parking. You'll normally find a space on the road close to the cottage, but during busy periods, you may find it easier to get a space on the parallel road or further up the hill. We have a map with good parking spots highlighted available. The shops and pubs are all within a 10 minute walk, and a huge variety of walks and cycle paths can be reached within 15 minutes, up and down the hill. The house includes a staircases and low (160cm) doorways, requiring stooping for access. Other things to note Due to some low ceilings and doorways, guests have noted it may not be suitable for very tall people or those with lower mobility.
