A peaceful 1864 farm stay nestled amongst 600+ year old red gums with picturesque mountain views. Immersed in wild life, native flora, and epic scenery; nature awaits. Stay in our historic bluestone STONEYCROFT COTTAGE (2 b/r, sleeps 4) and adjoining shearers quarters (5 b/r, sleeps 11). The Cavendish Bunyip hotel and tranquil Settlers walk are 5 mins drive away, whilst Dunkeld's scenic mountains and great eateries are 20 minutes drive. Pets are very welcome but strictly not inside please. The space South Mokanger is a historic farm that has been in the Gardner family for over 100 years. We run a pasture driven system to produce prime lambs and beef for domestic and international markets. We have been operating holiday cottages for over 30 years and welcome you to come and enjoy a rural experience in your fully renovated 1864 Stone cottage. Equipped with an outdoor BBQ, firepit and outdoor dining facilities. We are only 3.5 hours from Melbourne and 5.5 hours from Adelaide and 50 min from the beach, Port Fairy, Portland and Warrnambool, and 55 min from Halls Gap. You are centrally placed for exploring the western District and the Henty wineries. From here you are only 90 minutes from Coonawarra vineyards in one direction and Great Western in the other. Our Historic 1864 Soneycroft bluestone cottage great for a group getaway with each booking including the facilities of both the Cottage and Shearer’s Quarters. Stoneycroft Cottage has a verandah and cosy wood fire with capacity to sleep 4 in 2 queen bedrooms or you can spread to the adjoining shearers quarters which has 3 queen, one single and 2 twin bedrooms. Altogether we can accommodate 15. This cottage is very private and fully fenced with a purpose built dog yard so you can bring your canine friends (please keep them outside). We are well positioned to explore the Grampians National Park with it's wild life, flowers, walks and waterfalls. Only 20 minutes from The renowned Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld. Just 25 minutes from Hamilton, to all the shopping you need and just over an hour to the coast, Portland, Port Fairy or Warrnambool. On the farm: You can watch the farm activities that are happening at the time of your visit. Feel free to chat to staff that you may see buzzing about their daily activities. You can walk or bike ride down the 4 kilometre lane-way that runs through the centre of the property with wonderful mountain views. The Woolshed is also worth a look (opposite your accomodation). Guest access Your pet is very welcome (please strictly keep pets outside). We have a wonderful 4km walk down the lane-way with picturesque views of the mountains on your return. The cottage has purpose built dog kennels and cage for your convenience if you wish to go into the Grampians National Park for the day. With adjoining shearers quarters for overfolow bedrooms we can accommodate up to 16 guests at Stoneycroft!! You can explore our 1864 bluestone woolshed and wander down the laneway enjoying the amazing views, the ancient gum trees and the peace and quiet. Also great spaces for bikes!! You will be staying on a large farm with sheep and lambs. Other things to note From here it is about 5 minutes to the edge of the Grampians National Park and just 55 minutes to Halls Gap with lots of interesting walks and waterfalls in between. 8 minutes to Cavendish, with the Bridge Cafe and The Bunyip Hotel, which is open for dinner Thur-Sat and lunch Saturday and Sunday.
