Guest access Full house Other things to note Like the rest of the Istanbul, Fener Balat is changing, Unlike much of the rest of the city, though, the changes dont involve condominiums and shopping malls. Nor have rents skyrocketed as much as in other areas that have retained an Ottoman flavour. This is why the quarter has become a cool hangout and recognised design district and it was a area main event of Istanbul Design Biennial. So if you are looking for a party place or totally touristic, being close to shopping malls or high building Balat is not for you. But if you are looking something more real, children playing on the street, old and new residence you will enjoy Balat the most. Istanbul has 7 hills, so the city is full of hills thats why where ever you go you see sutting views all around. Balat is the same, it is old city, winding narrow historical streets. Houses are also historical, there is no elevator inside and there are full of stairs so if you have mobility difficulty it is not for you.
