The area is famous for traditional music and the village is known as the ‘ gateway’ to the Burren, and is world famous for its spectacular landscape and rare flora. This charming cottage with many original features is suitable for people seeking peace and tranquility in the Clare countryside. It’s especially suitable for families with children where there is much to see & do in the locality. The space This lovely detached property is conveniently located in the peaceful village of Kilfenora. The original cottage which dates back to pre 1840s has been beautifully restored while still retaining many original features, eg stone chimney breast, deep windows with original thick walls, etc. The original flagstone roof still remains where it has been carefully restored and is now a ‘listed’ feature and is pictured in the publication ‘Flagstone Roofs Of Clare. Traditionally decorated throughout, but with modern touches, this cottage has a welcoming home-away-from-home feel. The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms (one bedroom is en-suite) on the ground floor and one single attic bedroom. The kitchen/dining area is well equipped where one could whip up tasty meals for the family to enjoy around the dining room table. Chilly evenings can be spent in the cosy sitting room in front of a wood burning stove where logs are provided for guests. Sunny evenings can be spent in the secure garden or on the patio area which has a flagstone table & stools for all to enjoy. The village is steeped in history and is known as the ‘Gateway’ to the Burren, which is a special area of conservation, where you can spot local wildlife and go on guided walks, hire electric bikes, hire a boat and go fishing or sight seeing. The Cliffs of Moher, and many beaches are within easy reach of Kilfenora, offering breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. The area is peaceful and relaxing and the location of the cottage in this rural village allows easy access to the thus wild and rugged landscape. The cottage is within strolling distance of local pubs, craft shops, grocery shops, a tea room and a spectacular 12 century cathedral. Very secure. Other things to note In order to make all guests feel welcome I provide ‘A Welcome Pack’ which includes complementary foodstuffs on arrival. The pack consists of tea/coffee(fresh and instant) and some basics for breakfast or supper. I include cheese, bread,, butter, crackers, free range eggs & ham etc. I also make sure there are some logs and firelighters so guests can light a fire easily on arrival. All beds have electric blankets which are safe and can be left on over night if required. My main aim is to make guests feel as welcome and comfortable as possible at Fairgreen Cottage.
