Description
In the heart of the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Whitstone Cottage has everything you could want from a UK holiday. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic retreat, a family wanting a fun getaway or if you're looking for fabulous walking/cycling routes - Whitstone Cottage is for you. The space Whitstone Cottage was built circa 1740 and originally used as a paper mill in the historic town of Shepton Mallet. It was converted to a house in 2004. It has a raft of period features; exposed stone, original 18th century beams and is located on the old road into the town. The cottage is on a quiet residential street with free off road parking for one car. There is a pay and display car park for any additional cars a 5 minute walk away. Entry to the cottage is by key safe. Other things to note There is a retained Fire Station on Board Cross, near to the cottage. There is no permanent presence at the station, but it is used in emergencies and for an hour of training 7:30pm on a Wednesday evening. Board Cross is sometimes used by firefighters attending a 'shout', so please be prepared to give way quickly to them, should you be leaving or arriving at the cottage in your car. Children are very welcome at Whitstone Cottage, however there are a few things to bear in mind if you’re visiting with infants or children under 10. There aren’t any stairs gates/high chairs or cots at the property. The window in the main bedroom is also a fire escape & so opens fully & has a long drop. It does latch lock & so is safe, but you would need to be aware of this when staying. The blinds in the front bedroom have long cords to open & close them. There is only a limited supply of children’s crockery & cutlery. I follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights: I sanitise all touch surfaces, down to the doorknobs, handles on draws, chairs and coat hangers. I also provide a freshly washed shower curtain for each new guest I use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination I clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists I provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay I comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines
