The space The Fishing Lodge is beautifully appointed with everything needed for a comfortable relaxing stay. It is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the many attractions of the unique environment of Turangi, the Tongariro River and nearby Taupo. The Fishing Lodge is an ideal base to explore Tongariro National Park which includes the volcanoes Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. The Lodge is also an easy 35 minutes drive from the Whakapapa ski field on Mt Ruapehu. There are many walking tracks, including the internationally acclaimed Tongariro Crossing, the country’s most popular one-day walk. There is a 17 km, cycling/walking trail (The Tongariro River Trail) adjacent to the Tongariro River. (accessible from the Lodge.) This track is extremely popular for both walking and mountain biking. Turangi’s 18-hole golf course is within 2 minutes drive. Further afield are the natural thermal hot pools at Tokaanu (5 minutes by car) and Taupo’s restaurants, bars and shopping are 35 minutes away.
