Our vacation rental is located off the Hot Springs Road, and 2hrs SW of Marfa. Please look at the map we provide as one of the photos in the listing. From Marfa, take 67 to Presidio; then 170 to Ruidosa. Just past Ruidosa, turn on Hot Springs Rd. We are 6 miles up a maintained gravel road. You will arrive at our gate (grey metal with 2 mosaic signs): open gate-proceed down hill, cross arroyo and up a hill. Turn left at 2nd private gate. DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS down 2810-INACCURATE!! You will enjoy a spacious well furnished 2 bedroom/2 bath mobile home with a deck for mountain and star gazing. The property consists of 200 acres with hiking trails that include an arroyo with magnificent cliffs and the best rock collecting opportunities. The host has a rock art gallery in the arroyo that is not to be missed. The home kitchen is fully supplied with all cooking and dining utensils. A Keurig coffee maker and Mr. Coffee drip maker are provided. We also have some spices, salt/pepper and Keurig coffee pods. All you need to bring is food, drinking water and your clothing. All towels, sheets and blankets are furnished. The home (Casa Candelilla) has ample parking in the back with a ramp for easy access in unloading groceries and luggage. The back has a small deck off the laundry room. PETS: Must be discussed with hosts and rules understood before booking. We allow up to 2 dogs at the rate $25 per night. Under no circumstances can dogs be allowed in home unaccompanied. We may be on the property in our separate home during your stay, but may be in Alpine where we can be reached by phone. We have a land line and will keep one of the phones accessible for you. All details will be discussed before your arrival. We can provide maps of the Big Bend area and recommendations for restaurants in Presidio and refer you to Outfitters that provide river, jeep and biking tours. We are very remote, about 8 miles from the Rio Grande River (Mexico Border) and have the perfect location for those wanting some rewarding time gazing at the mountains, big sky and stars. Our retreat is Ideal for writers, musicians or those just needing to get away from it all! There is no public transportation. You car does not need high clearance to access our property, but keep in mind, you may encounter some ruts or rocks as you cross over the arroyo. We recommend that you do not haul heavy trailers or campers up our ranch road. A regular SUV or pickup will do well. We have had some guests in Prius vehicles that did fine. Rainy season is July-Oct, so please discuss road conditions with us, as rains can at times cause the roads to be less than ideal. We ask that you remove all garbage from the home and take it with you. You may dump the trash in any of the dumpsters in Presidio. Also remove all food items from the kitchen. We provide trash bags and cleaning products.
