Description
Our holiday apartment occupies the top floor of the Old Vicarage, a grade 2 listed Georgian house with much older roots, located directly behind the church of St John the Baptist in the heart of the historic market town of Bishops Castle. From its lofty location guests can enjoy far reaching views over the town and hills beyond. Only a few steps to the nearest pub, shops, eateries and with immediate access to the Shropshire Way and many other walking and cycling routes. The space With completely independent access from the main house via an external staircase, the accommodation includes a cosy sitting room, two king-sized bedrooms (one with space for an additional small single foldout bed suitable for a child or young person), a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom (bath with shower over). There is a wide screen TV which uses an Amazon Fire Stick enabling you to watch Freeview channels, YouTube, iPlayer etc, or use the DVD player with one of our large collection of ‘holiday’ dvd’s! Don’t forget to bring your password for Netflix or any other viewing accounts you may have. There is a travel cot if required (cot bedding not supplied). Guests are also welcome to enjoy the splendid grounds of the Old Vicarage; one and a half acres of formal gardens, orchard, and a folly built from the ruined remains of the medieval church. The house and gardens are shared by two cats and a large but friendly family dog. Access is up an outdoor staircase (28 steps) making it unsuitable for those with accessibility issues. For this reason, and as there is a pond in the garden, small children must be supervised at all times. Off-road parking and locked cycle storage are available if required. NB The Old Vicarage also includes the Oriel Glass Studio offering holiday courses in stained glass for both beginners and improvers. Please enquire with Helen. Other things to note Since the Covid pandemic, we are asking guests to strip their own beds and put laundry into the washing machine before leaving, also to place all refuse in the outside bins provided. We thank everyone for their care and understanding helping to keep us all safe.
