Garden Cottage is a secluded and idyllic holiday location, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside; it is the perfect place to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of modern day life, a place to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity of the beautiful Welsh countryside. The cottage and its walled garden is seeped with history, being built in 1854, the grounds used to produce fruit, vegetables & cut flowers for the Cawdor Estate. The space Garden Cottage sleeps 6 people and the three bedrooms (1 Kingsize, 1 Twins/Kingsize & 1 double) all have garden views. So from the moment you wake up there’s no forgetting you’re in the middle of beautiful, peaceful countryside. The 3 bedroom renovated Victorian cottage offers a blend of traditional character and modern amenities. The entrance to the property is through a wooden stable door into a very practical and generous utility room, leading straight into the country kitchen/ dining area. The kitchen at Garden Cottage has oodles of charm, with a traditional Inglenook fireplace housing a Rayburn, Belfast sink, gas hob and electric double oven range cooker as well as original quarry tile flooring and a dining table for sociable lunches and dinners. The downstairs bathroom is a generously sized shower room with WC and sink. The first sitting room has a beechwood floor, open fire, and TV, perfect for relaxing after a long day, the second carpeted sitting room has a wood burner, ideal for a cosy night in. Upstairs is a modern bathroom, renovated in 2018, and 3 bedrooms which have been thoughtfully presented and lovingly furnished. Each bedroom has stunning views of the private garden and surrounding woodlands. The house has a large private enclosed garden to the front of the property, with a lawn area, a feature wildlife pond and a summer house to relax in, perfect for enjoying the peace and tranquility of country life. To the side of the house is an enclosed patio area with garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue, ideal for sunny summer evenings. Guests have access to the grounds of Garden Cottage, which are the real showstopper. Set at the top of the garden, partially hidden behind stately, ancient trees, is a large ornamental lake. As you approach, you’ll often hear the honking of wild ducks and geese, or the beat of a heron’s wings. Carp swim in the lake, and nearby you may spot deer, rabbits and squirrels. This part of Wales is a haven for birds of prey. Red kites, buzzards and Gos hawks are all frequent visitors to Garden Cottage. As well as the lake and a meandering stream, Garden Cottage’s lush, rambling grounds include an orchard, where you’ll find a tulip tree with the largest trunk in Europe. Well behaved pets are welcome (2 dogs max). There is a fully fenced yard to keep them safe and walks from the door as well as beautiful walks within a short drive away.
