Description
Enjoy the alchemy of eco-architecture and design, sensitive to the Bo-Kaap's cultural charm. This spacious apartment features clean lines, open light-filled space and the warmth of natural materials. It's a skip to the City center, the coffee shops and buzz of neighboring De Waterkant. The terrace on the roof-garden offers majestic mountain & city views. This is the first inner city house built using industrial "Hemp". "Hemp" is a natural building material that supports a healthy planet. When used in a building it becomes a carbon sink. We have made the walls out of "Hempcrete" which is an infill made of industrial hemp and lime. Hempcrete walls offer superior thermal insulation. The structural timber is local moon-phase harvested pine. The doors and windows are made of FSC certified iroko and are all double glazed to keep you warm and cosy. Enjoy this inner city Hemp House and please feel free to ask me any questions. You may access the garden & greenhouse on the roof. The perimeter of the roof space is planted with edible plants. This is an ideal place to enjoy a sunset or a quiet dinner. You can park in the garage (lowest level of the building). The access to that garage by car is from the lane that comes from Castle Street (around the corner from the premises). During the week we work in the office downstairs, so we could be accessible then. After working hours, weekends and holidays someone would be available if needed. The Bokaap is a quiet neighborhood with unique character, traditions and architecture. Chiappini Street is one of the most characterful streets in the bokaap offering a wonderful mix of South Africa. The Bokaap is a community with a strong cultural heritage. Please enjoy and respect this very beautiful community. Please note that our property is close to a Mosque and the call to prayer is honoured 5 times a day. Parking is usually available in our street. Buses are a 3 min walk away, and the train station is a 10 min walk away. Long street & Bree street are about a 7 minute walk away.
