Perfectly located house in welcoming part of central Reykjavik. Stay within walking distance from the city's landmarks, best museums and restaurants - in close proximity to the Old Harbour, whale watching tours and the Grandi area. The house patio is ideal for Northern Lights gazing in winter. Enjoy the garden BBQ in spring/summer. Vintage and modern Nordic interior design. Free parking right in front of the house. We've aimed to preserve the original architecture and character of the house (built in 1934) with a mix of vintage and modern Nordic design. The garden & patio is a quiet and peaceful oasis. Guests have access to the whole property and garden. Feel free to contact me for local tips and information you might need prior to or during your stay - via Airbnb message or phone. The house is conveniently located in the 101 central area of Reykjavik - in walking distance from Reykjavik's best-known landmarks, museums and restaurants. The street lies in a quiet residential area and houses a number of international embassies. It leads directly to the city centre (9 min walk), where it connects with Reykjavik's oldest street (Adalstræti) and the City Hall. The "Gamli Vesturbær" or Old West Town area of Reykjavik is laid back and relaxed. It features a local grocery shop, bakery and café - and is located between the city centre, the old harbour and the up and coming Grandi district (seafood restaurants, food hall, microbrewery etc.) The seashore is a 5-7 min walk from the house. There you'll find walking routes to the east out to Harpa Concert House and the Sólfar/Sun Voyage sculpture (17-20 min walk) - and west to the Grótti peninsula and lighthouse (26 min). Make sure to experience the amazing Vesturbæjarlaug neighbourhood swimming pool (12-minute walk). A public transport bus station is next street (2 min walk) and the hop-on Reykjavik Sightseeing bus is close by (5 min walk). You can easily walk to many of Reykjavik's best-known sights. Parking is free and easy, right in front of the house. The house is designed by Einar Jónsson, one of Iceland's most prominent architects "widely considered to have played a key role in shaping the appearance of Reykjavík in the mid-20th century" (Wikipedia).
