Description

Beautiful raised bell tent set in your own private clearing in our native New Zealand bush. Comfortable bed, pure cotton sheets, fluffy towels. Close to nature with a touch of luxury. The space Set in the bush fronting on to the beautiful Rangiputa Beach on the Karikari Peninsula, Dreamcatchers balances comfort and style with nature’s beauty and tranquillity to create a truly magical experience. With your yurt like tent, set in your own little clearing amongst native New Zealand bush you can stroll down your private path to the beautiful white sands of Rangiputa beach. Soft beds, pure cotton sheets, wooden floors, your own covered kitchen and solar shower - it really is a touch of luxury close to nature - otherwise known as glamping! Our philosophy is very eco-friendly. We have three tent sites all built from timber milled from our own trees and from recycled material. We are off grid, so everything is solar powered, with gas rings and a gas bbq for cooking. Water is from our own bore, pumped up by solar power, and there is a worm composting toilet. Dreamcatchers luxury tented accommodation is located on Rangiputa Beach, a true watersports paradise. You can kitesurf, paddleboard, wakeboard, waterski, kayak, snorkel, dive, sail, fish – whatever takes your fancy. You will have private access to one of the best kitesurfing spots in the world, with fantastic winds, sandbars and flat flat water. It’s a great place to learn, and an amazing place to kite. You can take lessons in our kitesurfing school or just get out there and enjoy. Wakeboard or waterski on glassy water. Explore the beautiful harbour by paddleboard or kayak, or dive the reef to see the amazing sponge gardens. Catch snapper from the beach or charter a boat for the day and cook your catch on the barbeque. Or just sit back, relax and enjoy this very special piece of New Zealand. The Neighbourhood Regarding eating out, Mangonui has some great restaurants and cafes - The Waterfront Cafe is excellent for dinner, and there is a Thai, Indian and fish and chip restaurant too, plus other cafes during the day. It’s about half an hour away from us, and on your way up if you were wanting to stop before you get here. On the peninsula we have a Carringtons Resort which has a top quality (but pricey) restaurant, and a winery cafe which is open from 11am to 4pm for lunch, coffee and wine and then from 5.30pm to 8.30pm in the summer for pizza. There is also a fish and chip shop on the peninsula. In terms of what to bring, you will have the basics here, but if you can bring some towels for the beach, and a torch or two that would be great. I would also pack some mozzie repellent, though we do have some here if you need it. And make sure that all your electronic devices are fully charged, as we are totally off grid here. We can charge phones and some computers, but there might be a queue, so best to get them all as full as you can first. Regarding provisions, we provide tea, coffee and sugar, but you will need to bring everything else you need. The best place to buy provisions is at the Foursquare in Coopers Beach on your way up, though they are only open to 7 or 8pm. We do have a small shop and a gas station on the peninsula for the basics. There are more shops and a Pack’n Save in Kaitaia about 30 mins away.
