Beautiful Cottage with Suntrap Garden

The cottage is located just out of the centre of Hay opposite the beautiful St Mary's Church. It is slightly quieter here than in the heart of the town but is still only a 5 minute walk into the centre. It is very easy to access the river walks, simply taking the path to the right of the church. The cottage is full of character with wooden beams, a wood-burning stove, the original fireplace in the bedroom, wooden flooring throughout the downstairs, and a beautiful south-facing garden. The space The cottage was built in the 1800's but was extended recently to the rear. The bathroom and single bedroom overlook the garden and the spacious double room is above the lounge at the front of the property. The bed is really comfortable with an Eve mattress and the shower has good pressure. The woodburner makes the cottage very cosy in the winter yet the lounge feels delightfully cool in the heat of the summer. The garden can be a sun-trap and is a beautiful space to read a book or share a meal. We have recently invested in a luxurious bistro reclining chair set and coffee table to maximise comfort when losing yourself in your book or just enjoying the garden and sunshine. Guest access Guests will have full access to all of the house and garden. There is free street parking within 50 metres of the cottage on gypsy castle lane. Despite the cottage not having on-site parking, it is generally easy to park. Parking in this area is safe and it is easier to park here than in the centre of Hay, with no time restrictions. However, if for some reason you can't park on Gypsy Castle Lane, Motte and Bailey pay and display car park is a 2 minute walk from the cottage. Other things to note Please note the safety section. I have decided to not allow bookings for babies and young children as the cottage isn't really suitable and we don't have necessary safety equipment. There is a key safe in the recess of the front door and I will inform you of the code prior to check-in. It is worth noting that the stairs are "short and sharp" (see picture). There is a handrail to assist you but the cottage would probably not be suitable for anyone with significant mobility issues. Bikes can be stored securely in the rear garden but unfortunately there is no side-alley and no outside tap at the front of the property and so you will need to take dirty bikes through the cottage. There is a freezer in the garden shed but it is generally switched off as many guests do not use it and it seems wasteful to run an empty freezer. Feel free to switch it on at the plug when you arrive. Alternatively, let me know beforehand and I will make sure that it is ready to use on arrival. Please switch the freezer off when you leave.
