Ocean View is a stunning air-conditioned self-catering holiday house offering a sweeping panorama of beautiful Vivonne Bay, with the acclaimed beach just a couple of minutes walk away. The décor is modern with a bright & airy ambience. There are two queen bedrooms and a bunkroom with four single beds. The kitchen is equipped with new Miele appliances and includes an espresso machine. Free WiFi and a smart TV with Foxtel are provided along with a Bluetooth music system. Diverse wildlife abounds. The space “Best view in Vivonne Bay” (guest review headline). “This property arguably the best positioned in the Vivonne Bay township” (Century 21). The standout feature of Ocean View is the stunning 180-degree panorama sweeping around from Nobby Islet and Cape Gantheaume in the east to Point Ellen and the jetty in the west (latter illuminated at night along with the beacon at Point Ellen). Watching waves crash high against Point Ellen can be mesmerising. Ocean View offers all the comforts of home including reverse-cycle ducted air-conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen including new Miele appliances, large fridge/freezer, microwave oven, new cookware and cutlery and an espresso machine with ground coffee supplied. An electric frypan and rice cooker are also available. Free WiFi is included, taking advantage of broadband wireless Internet available in Vivonne Bay. Also Foxtel for streaming news, entertainment and movie channels. A Bluetooth sound system provides smartphone connectivity for filling the house with your favourite music. The open-plan living area includes an 8-seat acacia dining setting offering picture window views of Vivonne Bay including the comings & goings of fishing vessels. An adjoining lounge area comprises a luxurious new L-shape lounge, coffee table and a 55” widescreen smart TV with streaming apps. Our three bedrooms provide options for one or two couples or a large family with kids (or adults) in the bunkroom. The queen beds are fitted with dual-control electric blankets along with MiniJumbuk wool quilts for cosy winter nights. Extra pillows and blankets are available. An infant cot with change table can be set up on request along with a high chair. Our elevated and illuminated deck is equipped with a table setting and versatile 3-burner gas BBQ. A great spot for morning coffee and alfresco meals as well as enjoying the expansive view and observing the diverse wildlife that inhabits the surrounding coastal reserve. Wallabies visit frequently and fairywrens hop around on the deck. Honeyeaters love perching on their driftwood stick. Silvereyes enjoy splashing in our birdbath. Bold little striated pardalotes are prevalent in spring and summer, flitting in & out of nests we have installed under our deck roof. Ospreys & majestic sea eagles are often spotted soaring above the beach. The deck also offers a great vantage point for experiencing gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and viewing the startling night sky and Milky Way stretching overhead. Access to the house at night is facilitated by dual infrared sensors that control LED lights above the driveway and along the side walkway and deck. The steps leading down to the pristine beach are just 100 metres away with no intervening properties. The ocean is so close you will often be lulled to sleep by the sound of breaking waves. We are pleased to share our lovely home with guests of Airbnb. We began operating Ocean View as a holiday house in late 2017 and our guestbook is filled with highly complimentary comments from guests who have travelled from near and far. Guest access You have access to the entire house comprising spacious open-plan living area, fully equipped kitchen, two queen bedrooms, bunkroom, bathroom with laundry sink and outside deck with a table setting and gas BBQ. Access to the washing machine used by our cleaner can be arranged on request for stays of five or more nights if essential (noting our limited rainwater supply). Other things to note Kangaroo Island is subject to bushfire risk during the fire danger season, typically from December through April – bushfire safety information is provided in the blue Guest Information folder and posted on the notice board. Teabags, instant coffee, ground coffee & sugar are supplied along with salt & pepper and mixed herbs. We endeavour to maintain a supply of cooking oil. It is essential to bring food & drink supplies given the remote setting of Vivonne Bay. The local store has a limited range of basic items as well as eat-in & takeaway food. Optus & Telstra mobile reception is available noting the Telstra signal is weak in Vivonne Bay. We rely totally on limited rainwater in our tanks so please be frugal with water use especially when showering. We prefer that shoes are taken off inside to protect our cypress pine floor. An infant cot can be set up on request prior to arrival. Also a highchair. Our driveway has sufficient space for at least two vehicles. We advocate travel insurance to provide cover in the event of disruption to your travel; e.g. weather-related ferry cancellations and other unforeseen events.
