Description

Groom’s Cottage is tucked into the folds of the Quantock Hills and close to the fossil-rich beach in Kilve. Perfect for walking, horse riding and mountain biking, it’s only a short walk along our no-through lane and on to the hills (and Coleridge Way) and half a mile to an award-winning, dog-friendly pub. The cottage sleeps 4 in 2 double rooms, has bath and shower and open-plan downstairs. It forms the west wing of our farmhouse whose grounds (loungers and barbecue) you are welcome to enjoy. The space Groom’s Cottage forms the west wing of Pardlestone Farm and overlooks the stables and yard. It sleeps up to four people in two double bedrooms and has a bathroom with both a shower and bath, and an open-plan downstairs. The kitchen is well-equipped and there’s a washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage has its own outside seating area and visitors are welcome to use the barbecue and chiminea and explore or relax in the gardens. Dogs and horses are welcome (by arrangement) and visitors can usually stable their horses right outside the cottage door. The cottage provides a cool retreat in the heat of summer and is snug and centrally heated in the winter months. Pardlestone Farm is located in the Quantock Hills, Somerset’s unspoilt wilderness. Here, the open access land is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways, including the nationally important Coleridge Way, where you can follow in the footsteps of the romantic poets, Wordsworth and Coleridge, or link to the Two Moors Way and the South West Coast Path. William and Dorothy Wordworth's home in the late 1700s is just a 15-minute walk from Pardlestone Farm. Sightseers will also love West Somerset and neighbouring North Devon, with their historic castles, pretty harbours as well as Exmoor National Park and the spectacular coast. Nearby, is the West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage steam line in England. Although Groom's Cottage feels a world away from the hubbub of modern life, it is just an hour’s drive from Bristol (M4/M5 interchange) and closer to London than Devon or Cornwall. Guest access Guests are welcome to bring bikes, dogs and even horses by arrangement! You can park your car right in front of Groom's Cottage; you'll have your own two areas for outside seating at the front and back of the cottage, but you are welcome to make use of the rest of Pardlestone Farm's garden. If you bring horses, you will, of course, have use of the stables and fields too and there is plenty of storage for bikes.
