5 miles West of Lake District (1), Whitehaven

Simple, budget accommodation in my home, (1 of 3 bedrooms let on Airbnb), which I share with my friendly Border Collie x Bernese Mountain Dog. SHARED BATHROOM, NO LOCKS ON BEDROOM DOORS! - Whitehaven is 1.75 miles away (No Ubers!); the Cumbrian coast, 1.2 miles; the Lake District, 5 miles; Ennerdale Water 9 miles; Loweswater lake 10 miles, Buttermere 17 miles; Wasdale/Scafell Pike 20 miles. Start of the C2C cycle in Whitehaven 2 miles away. ONE dog allowed; ask first! The space AN AIRBNB IN THE SPIRIT OF THE ORIGINAL! (As opposed to 'traditional' British B&B!) The bedroom doors have NO LOCKS, being in a private home, not a commercial guest house. The ONLY bathroom is SHARED between ALL in the house at the time - I hope that's OK with you! - I sometimes have longer term lodgers staying, as well as airbnb guests. The house is 'lived in' ... and the dog traipses in muddy after her walk, so don't expect perfection like a hotel... but I hope a bit of 'rough & ready' adds to the charm, and you will feel welcome & at home! Guest access Guests have access to the kitchen & dining room, but not the living room, which is my bedroom & 'den', leaving 3 upstairs bedrooms for lodgers and/or Airbnb guests.) You are welcome to make your evening meal in the kitchen, and eat in the dining room or your bedroom, as you wish. PLEASE KEEP TO 30 MIN MEALS (light cooking, no 3 hour marathons!) Sorry there is no TV (in my room only). I have BT Complete Wifi for your own devices. I'm happy to store bikes in the house or the shared courtyard. Parking is in public laybys, where I have parked without incident for 28 years! During your stay I enjoy meeting all sorts of people from all over the world, and love to talk to people about the Lake District and other local attractions. (I have walked most of the major mountains.) I'm happy to chat, or to leave you alone, as required. I welcome people here for work, as well as travellers and holiday makers. Other things to note I reply to messages within the hour if I'm at home. If I am out with the dog, my phone RECEIVES Airbnb SMS notifications, but I do not have the facility to reply as I have no smartphone! - If I'm up a mountain when you 'ping', I'll reply as soon as I'm back home!
