Idyllic Peaceful Hideaway

Meadow Cottage is a welcoming, cosy two bedroomed retreat raised from the ruin of a Welsh longhouse. It nestles in a beautiful valley flanked by trees and hills and is the perfect place for a relaxing break. As you approach the property along the narrow country lane, be prepared to fall into the embrace of this peaceful and tranquil location. The cottage is well equipped and has a pretty garden surrounded by fields and woodland with a patio for alfresco dining or just being at one with nature. The space The cottage is a dedicated holiday home and is situated within our 200 acre farmland estate. The original property collapsed many years ago and when we acquired it, the only parts still standing were the livestock end, which was complete, and part of the wall containing the original fireplace. We decided to renovate the cottage and used as much as possible of the old stone still lying nearby, and in 1999 it was re-born. At night, Meadow Cottage is near silent except for the odd owl hooting or the wind rustling in the trees, and the sky is properly dark except for the moon and stars - a perfect recipe for the townie needing a good nights sleep. To help you dream on, our comfortable beds have soft snuggly duvets and pillows with fresh colour coordinated bed linen. In the Kitchen, you’ll find all the equipment you’ll need to prepare anything from basic grub to an epicurean feast. We provide tea towels, dish cloths and cleaning products. The cosy Lounge has windows overlooking the front and back gardens. It has two comfy sofas and an armchair. On a chilly evening, you can enjoy the log burning stove. The spacious Double Bedroom on the first floor has a king size pine bed, dressing table, hair dryer, wardrobe, chest of drawers, walk in eaves cupboard for storage and a boudoir chair. Adjacent to the Double Bedroom is the Bathroom which has a basin, wc, bath with shower and a warm airing cupboard. You will find individually wrapped scented soap, soft towels and a pack of four toilet tissue. The Twin Bedroom is on the ground floor and has two 3' single beds with bedside cabinets and reading lights. There is a matching tallboy with drawers and hanging space. A few steps down from the hallway is the Laundry Room equipped with a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board with iron and clothes airer. For drying wet dogs we have provided some old towels. We are Martin and Karen and we welcome our guests with a complimentary tray of tea, coffee, soft drinks and Welsh cakes. Our home is next door, so to speak, 300 metres along a farm track and we host the cottage with the help of our co-host, Alex. We are always happy to meet you, chat or help with anything you need. Other things to note Meadow cottage is situated in a very rural area so a car is essential. Mobile phone reception here can be quite patchy so having Wi-Fi calling set up on your mobile while at the cottage may be useful. There is a land-line phone and we provide an honesty box should you need to use it to make calls.
