Betty Fold in the Heart of the Lake District

A simple comfortable self contained apartment on ground floor of the owners historic house, excellent value for money in a stunning location in the heart of the Lake District. Set in 3 acres of a beautiful Lakeland gardens shared with the owners, views across the Fells and superb walking direct from the property. Hawkshead, Ambleside & Coniston are all within a 10 minute drive, making this the ideal base for exploring the Lake District or simply relaxing and enjoying the lovely setting. The space The accommodation comprises an open plan kitchen and living room with three piece suite, dining table and chairs, with digital smart television/radio and and a well equipped kitchen area with electric cooker, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Access to owners washing machine can usually be arranged in an emergency. The property has free wifi. The double bedroom has an en suite bathroom with walk in shower. There is a small twin bedded room which has its own bathroom with bath & shower over & dressing area. Whilst the apartment will sleep 4 adults we believe it is more spacious for 2 or 3 adults or 2 adults & 2 children (over 2 years). PLEASE NOTE: Mid October - mid March bookings will be taken for a maximum of two people and one small dog. Make an Airbnb enquiry for short breaks in this period. We have plenty of guide books, maps and information to help you plan your days. There is private car parking for one vehicle on the driveway (a second vehicle may be accommodated by prior arrangement) . Well behaved pets may be accepted, please let us know when booking Visitors to the apartment may be able to view a variety of wildlife in the garden. Badgers, deer, owls & bats are frequent visitors at dusk both in the garden and the adjacent field and there is an abundance of bird life. The apartment itself is just lovely, the facilities were great and the owners were friendly, welcoming, accommodating and helpful. The Apartment is located in beautiful grounds with fabulous views of the Lakes countryside, and the location was perfect for stunning walks around the Tarn Hows area. The village of Hawkshead itself is down the hill, a nice walk, especially if you take the path along the river, or a 2 minute drive. We had a lovely few days in January and will definitely be going again." In April 2019 Mr York wrote “This was a fantastic 7 days stay. Hawkshead is only 1.5 miles away, with plenty of places to eat. Central to all the usual Lake District attractions. The apartment had all we would want. Bedding, towels, dishes and kitchen utensils. Idyllic setting with NO car noise. Just birds singing, a Woodpecker, a small deer, pheasants and an occasional badger. Betty Fold is a traditional Lakeland house built with solid stone walls and has it's own central heating system which can be adjusted using a Smart heating control system for your comfort. There is no washing machine or dryer in the apartment but we are happy to arrange the use of our machine in an emergency.
