Description

LITTLE TYLEGLAS is a 16th century farmhouse based in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park near Hay-On-Wye. Same family ownership of 450 years. stunning views and an ideal location for relaxing with friends and family, walking, riding, cycling, canoeing, artists and yoga, this really is an idyllic retreat. ample private parking early arrival and late check outs ( by arrangement with Chris) Sleeps up to 10 Tennis Court extensive garden and a wood Village pub nearby Hay on Wye 5 miles The space Little Tyleglas is furnished professionally to a very high standard and its cosy. We really do like to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and a home from home. Please be aware that the water system at the farmhouse is low pressure gravity fed. It is adequate and the water is very hot however it is not a high pressure power system. There is Starlink Broadband at the farmhouse. No TV at present. ( this might change). The internet hub is in the kitchen with the password on it. The conservatory will be open on arrival and the key for the farmhouse will be either in the kitchen door for you, or in the black lock box just inside the conservatory. Chris will give you the key box code before you arrive. The downstairs floor plan is from conservatory into small cloak room with a door right into kitchen and a door left into rest of house. from the large farmhouse kitchen you can walk into the laundry room and the shower room. the other kitchen door takes you outside for the three colour coded recycling bins ( please use these during your stay). food waste is to go in the internal dustbin ( black bin liners supplied) at the basin end of the kitchen. I run the beautiful four oven aga for guests all year...There are further electric hobs, a work top electric oven and a microwave in the kitchen and basic food items are here for your use including olive oil salts peppers tea sugar real coffee and a caffetiere. From the Cloackroom / Kitchen you can access the rest of the house through a bright hall which has off it a downstairs loo and basin, opposite this is the large downstairs bedroom 'India' double and opposite this is the sitting room with patio doors to the conservatory, it has seating for ten and a lovely wood burner (firewood is supplied). The stairs take you up to four further bedrooms, 'Begwyns' king, 'Lemons' twin, 'Feathers' double and 'Hounds' twin and a family bathroom and an ensuite. All beds have bed linen and rugs there is a further supply of Welsh blankets in the oak corner cupboard of the end bedroom 'Hounds' the bedroom at the end of the corridor on the right. if there are any special requirements I will do my best to accommodate these. Guest access There is parking for up to seven cars or motorbikes at the property. The walled lawn from the conservatory is for our guests use with a delightful rose and mixed flower border and has a picnic table for the guests use. A low wall separates this lawn from the upper lawn terrace which is also for the guests enjoyment, it is planted with cherry trees rhododendrons bamboo and magnolias. The guests have full use of the Tennis Court and the seated patio area along the court with access here to our award winning cider orchards and and a path will take you to a secret and beautiful three acre wood on a circular walk within..the whole area being 7 acres. My cottage is just along the road from the farmhouse. Areas out of bounds for my guests is the area of garden near the cottage, the stream and pond and the Long Barn which houses my second hand book shop, Barnabees Books. all the adjoining agricultural fields are out of bounds and we ask that you do not associate in any way with our long horn cattle. The second hand bookshop specialises in Childrens Books and vintage paperbacks and Guests are welcome to browse by arrangement or if you see me in there! Other things to note Tennis Court, rackets and balls supplied. Woodburner in sitting room, firewood supplied EV charging by cable.. by prior arrangement with Chris. PETS by arrangement only with Chris prior to booking... not allowed in the house. We will allow dogs outside with adequate supervision.. it is an extensive garden and wood and your dog must be under control and never go into the farmers fields. Children by arrangement with Chris prior to booking. Its an old farmhouse with particularities that I would like to discuss with you prior to your booking if you would like to bring your children... briefly and not exclusively these are; a very hot Aga, a relatively steep staircase and no stair gates. sharp cutlery. a stream and a pond ( out of bounds and its unfenced), low walls, a cattle grid, long horn cattle ( fenced) and outside steps that can be slippery when wet). The farmhouse is on and close to many blue cycle routes as well as very good off road trails. Bikes may be stored in the conservatory or by arrangement with Chris in the barn. Motorcycles are very welcome and can be stored in the barn ( under hasp and staple lock) by arrangement with Chris. we have fabulous walking from the door and a dedicated laundry room to wash clothes on those rainy days. local walks include The Dragon's Back, The Cat's Back and the Begwyns Roundabout Good village pub 1 mile local Pony Trekking 1.5 miles Gliding at the Talgarth Gliding Club 3 miles Hay On Wye 5 miles Cadw Tretower Court is 15 minutes. Llanthony Priory is 19 miles via a stunning mountain drive along the Gospel Pass. We are a great location for Hay on Wye which has a small cinema a Hay distillery se next door serving amazing cocktails, many bookshops, independant retailers and a magnificent Norman Castle, Hay's Literature Festival is May 22- June 2nd. The Hay on Wye Winter Festival 28th November - 1st December. The Green Man Festival, Crickhowell 15th- 18th August. Brecon Jazz, 7th-21st August. The Royal Welsh Show, Builth Wells 22nd-25th July. The Brecon Agricultural Show 3rd August The LLanigon Show 10th? August. Abergavenny Food Festival 21st-22nd September. CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR We always put on a lovely Christmas display at the farmhouse for guests and families who book over the Christmas and New Year periods..further details please ask Chris.
