Aire River Escape is an experience like nothing else. Tucked away, just off the Great Ocean Road is a private cabin, designed and built for couples seeking quiet and seclusion. Nestled on a bend of the pristine Aire River the cabin overlooks rich farmland and the Otway National Park, the location is stunning. Aire River is a destination in itself but if you can drag yourself away it is well located to surf beaches, Otway National Park, Great Ocean Walk, 12 Apostles and the Gourmet Trail. The space Secluded, indulgent and nature, unspoilt. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you would expect. Full size cedar sauna, outdoor spa bath and wood fire. Guests have two kayaks to explore the waterways, go fishing or bird watching. There is a private jetty, perfect for swimming or launching boats. There is an extensive DVD library for movie lovers. All linen, towels and bath robes are provided. Every effort has been made to minimize the impact on the local environment. No harsh soaps or cleaning products. There is an odour free composting toilet located in an out building. (it sounds yucky but I promise you it isn’t). Sorry the cabin is not safe or suitable for small children, this rule is strict. Dogs may be permitted at Aire River. Please contact the host BEFORE booking. This is a farming property and there is wildlife. Therefore insects can be a problem during warm, humid conditions. The cabin is insect proof if screens are left closed Well behaved dogs are by arrangement only. Please check with the host before booking Aire River Escape There is a weak mobile reception at the cabin if you are with Telstra. This does improve if you walk up the hill. The toilet is located in an out building adjacent to the cabin. It is an environmentally friendly, absolutely no smell composting toilet. It sounds gross but it’s not. Aire River Escape has an emergency bush fire plan and emergency grab bag. The host will communicate closely with guests during periods of high fire danger. Guests are ultimately responsible for their own safety and should remain vigilant and updated on changing weather conditions. Hordern Vale and surrounding areas can experience loss of power during extreme weather events. Generally the power is returned within a few hours unless there is extreme fire risk There is no TV reception at the cabin, an extensive DVD library is provided. The cabin does not have central heating or cooling. Wood fire for heating and an evaporative cooler and ceiling fan(s) during hot conditions. Rain water is captured and stored in tanks, it is clean and safe. If you do not wish to drink this water you will need to bring your own drinking water or arrange for the host to provide Apollo Bay town water at the time of booking. Please do not buy lots of small plastic bottles. Fire wood is not provided during these months (Jan, Feb, March). You are welcome to have a fire if you bring your own fire wood or collect scraps from around the property. There is plenty. Not suitable or safe for small children.
