Description
Private cozy guest unit nestled under towering Giant Redwood and Fir trees, the Sonoma coast is 20 minutes to the west and world class wineries and microbreweries start 5 minutes to the east. Enjoy the Redwood deck with dedicated guest area, bbq fireplace, and brand new hot tub as of 2/2/26. New Deck weather coverings added 10/10/24 that allows quite a bit of sheltered outdoor space. The hosts Jason and Kim and cohost Liz welcome you! The space The view of the tall trees going hundreds of feet into the air is the most unique feature of the property. The door from the cozy 288 square foot guesthouse opens to the large redwood deck, with softub hottub, bbq, fireplace, lounge chair, dining table with chairs, and café table right outside your door. The guesthouse has a very comfortable queen size bed, a full tiled bathroom with jetted oversize bathtub, a 47 inch flat screen TV with dvd player and Netflix and Amazon Prime tv access (no cable), fast wifi, and a desk with leather office chair. There is a Bluetooth mini speaker system you can bring out on the deck for music. This space is considered part of the home and not a second legal unit, so complete indoor cooking facilities are not allowed. Inside we do have a mini fridge, a microwave oven and a toaster so you can heat up leftovers from the nearby fantastic restaurants and have a simple breakfast. Our recent BBQ upgrade has made outdoor cooking preferable to indoor. New Weber stainless steel bbq with side burner, bbq griddle and skillet, and pots and pans allow the bbq to cook most things. We typically require a two night minimum, but you may ask for one night. We might increase the price for a one night stay or not be able to accommodate, but we can if we will. The guesthouse is so comfortable for sleeping and that our guests often find themselves sleeping in till 11am...wondering what happened as they "always" get up early. Set an alarm if you need to get up. The guesthouse has in the past been an occasional mini-micro brewery. For guests visiting the Sonoma County breweries, there are several ale growlers in the room you can borrow. Most of the brewing equipment has been removed to give guests more space to store things. This property has many nice features, but also has a few things about it that some people may not like, so we want to tell you about them. 1)Our staircase up to the guesthouse has 55 stairs, and walking up the stairs you will have to 2)pass an old cabin. Once at the top of the stairs and at the guesthouse...all you can see are the trees...without the old cabin getting in the way. If you can't do stairs...you would probably be more comfortable somewhere else. 3)The hot tub is brand new as of February 26. In order to keep it and our bbq and table area free from leaves, cones and sap, we have put up a large deck coveringthat acts as a roof. Please agree to take a shower before hot tub use as it is brand new. 4)Hwy 116 is a rural highway at the bottom of the stairs...you can hear road noise from the deck. Its far enough away that it shouldn't bother you unless you are very sensitive, but wanted to disclose the possible sounds. The room is well insulated with good windows...you may hear the occasional heavy truck roll by but traffic is not audible inside. The space has amenities for heating leftovers, but there is no stove or indoor cooking facilities. There is an outdoor covered area where you can bbq, and plates and cutlery are available for eating bbq and leftovers. Coffee and tea are supplied as well but feel free to bring your own favorites. We have installed a 20 amp 240v electric car charging outlet at the parking area. Guests with electric cars can charge up, if you have your charger. we have a regular outlet for level 1 chargers and a 240v 20 amp circuit for level 2 chargers at the foot of the stairs. Your car will be able to get within reach of a 25' cord. Pet free with the exception of 2 cats upstairs that stay inside the living area which is upstairs from the guest area. Our cohost Liz lives upstairs with her cats and is very quiet. The guest deck area is yours alone to use while you are there but Liz will cross the deck to access her unit and the underdeck storage area when needed. Guest access Guests have full access, except for the upstairs unit area which is the floor above the guest house. Hot Tub access is extended to guests with the caveat that makeup, lotions and oils must be washed off before entry. Please shower before tubbing. The bbq and hot tub will be guest only access while you are booked. I sometimes use the deck but refrain while guests are staying. Other things to note We have a friend who has a licensed fishing boat and takes 4 to 6 people on fishing expeditions out of Bodega Bay. Pretty flexible you can do a sunset boat ride with no fishing too.
