If you are a “nature lover” seeking a nice relaxing country “retreat” away from the hustle and bustle of suburbia and city life then this is the place for you! Welcome to The Grange on Kalgan a unique heritage "premium" farm-stay set in a fresh country setting located just 22kms from the City of Albany. Stay 4 nights and get the 5th night free and Eco Tours available at 20% discount! This listing only offers "standard" features - check the "premium" listing. The space I am a Sustainable Tourism Operator with a simple page of house rules that reflects my sustainable values. Guests will be treated to a guided tour of the property and discover how ‘The Grange on Kalgan’ has successfully adopted eco-responsible sustainable practices involving recycling and plastic free, organically grown produce, solar energy and how the owner actively supports the conservation of native fauna and flora. Please note I live in a separate private area of the house as I need to run and manage the property and you can use the kitchen (which is shared) and bring some food - 25kms from town. Kitchen facilities are available but please supply own foodstuffs. This property will suit 4 guests who are seeking a nature based outdoor experience and want to explore the region, appreciate the location on the Kalgan River, enjoy a property with sweeping river valley views, extensive landscaped gardens and nature reserves along with a prolific range of birdlife, are sociable and can relax in the large living room with its stone fire place, library, pool table, bar and the dining facilities. Please note that dogs are not permitted on this property. This property is not suited for families with children up to and including 4 years of age - unsafe and not suited to the property and what it offers Our 2 Bedroom Suite features a King size bed (Vineyard View Room) and a Queen sized bed (Valley View Room) with a shared bathroom and a private deck with sweeping westerly views over the Kalgan River valley and adjoining vineyards. Maximum occupancy is 4 adults and will suit a family or 2 couples travelling together. We have a wonderful range of attractions on our 12.5 acre property which features extensive landscaped bird attracting gardens and water features together with an extensive organic orchard and vegetable garden. Some unique characteristics and qualities about this accommodation include: • Being a farmstay our guests are welcome to feed some of the farm animals which include sheep, alpacas, chooks and peacocks. Watching the kangaroos foraging in nearby paddocks is one of the truly special experiences of a visit to The Grange on Kalgan. • Close proximity to the Kalgan River offers a number of excellent outdoor activities with canoeing, fishing, swimming and hiking • Facilities are available such as laundry, private bathroom, north and west facing verandas, free parking, free wifi for emails only, airconditioning and non smoking • Facilities also include large family living area and dining room with a wood fireplace • We have tourism accreditation with Tourism Council WA There are soaks and water features on the property. The Luke Pen Walk trail, located along the Kalgan River adjoining the property, is a beautiful meandering 7km walking trail closely following the River. The walk along the river is serene and peaceful and a 20min walk will take you past the fish traps to the bridge at Upper Kalgan. Whether you are enjoying a sundowner, sitting in the entertainment area drinking our local wines and watching the sun set over the beautiful Kalgan River or sipping a glass of red wine and enjoying a good book in front of the wood fire, what we offer will be above your expectations! I am located close to beaches, wineries 20 mins from the Porongurup Range, 50 mins from Bluff Knoll and the Stirling Ranges and 20 mins from the shops and restaurants in Albany. Enjoy the stunning vistas and explore everything that this farm has to offer set in a delightful location. The property and location offer peace and quiet and guests have compared the property to staying at a "private retreat." Guest access Living room, bedrooms, ensuite, kitchen, front and western verandas, laundry and anywhere outside - small part of the house is private and I live in a separate area of the house with its own facilities. There is space reserved in the carport for your motor vehicle. During your stay I am available at most times unless away and I can socialise with my guests if they wish Please also refer to the other listing for one bedroom for 2 guests Other things to note You are quite welcome to use the laundry at no extra charge.
