SUP, kite & wind surfer heaven. Book Now! Depending on time of year & duration of stay, rates vary & are negotiable. Just ask! Mid June - Labor Day there’s a 1 week minimum. A beautiful luxe beach cottage 1/2 a block from the Long Island Sound steps to Walnut Beach awaits in the historic town of Milford! The cottage sits on land that was once owned by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The large Victorian home at the top of my street with carriage house and barn was once her farm. The space A beautiful over 104 year old beach cottage with all the comforts of home 1/2 a block from the Long Island Sound and steps to Walnut Beach in historic Milford, Connecticut awaits! Perfect for vacationers who enjoy kite and wind surfing, stand up paddling, cycling, sailing or kayaking. If you enjoy tennis, the local recreation center up the block has a court and there are tennis racquets for guest use. The nearby Audubon Nature Center on the Housatonic River provides excellent summer programs for families with young children and the Housatonic River marshes are a favorite with kayakers. Enjoy casting for blue fish at the end of the street or on the pier, watching sail boats race or building a sand castle during the annual competition. Artist fairs on the historic town green and at the beach pavilion are a local attraction as are the pirate, oyster and lobster festivals each year. Captain Kidd called the Sound his home and visited Milford on occasion. ARRRR! Listen to music on a warm summer night at the beach pavilion or just enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk which connects to Silver Sands State Park. At low tide via the tombolo explore Charles Island and look for pirate booty. Enjoy reading the morning paper with your espresso in the sun room or gaze at the water from the front garden bench. Grill out in just the right sized backyard and enjoy tiki torch dinners in this quiet beach community. You'll find fresh herbs, blueberries, nasturtiuns, mint and strawberries for the picking. Cycling is a nice way to explore the downtown with it's quaint shops, restaurants and harbor. A lovely beach cruiser bike with wicker basket and an adult tricycle with large rear basket are available for use for local errands. Also for guest use are a kayak and a standup paddle board. A collapsable beach cart helps tote beach toys, chairs and umbrellas to your beach "camp" for a day of fun. The shed is full of everything you need including a giant inflatable whale and swan with pump. Additional bike and kayak rentals are available from the local bike shop Tony's Bikes on the town green or just around the corner from Scoot and Paddle on Naugatuck. Tell Tina that Tina sent you. (Tina is the owner) On cooler fall or spring nights, snuggle by the back yard chiminea and roast some smores. If you want to explore the excitement of New York City for the day, it's an easy trip by Metro North train and only 1 1/2 hours away. Or take a boat tour of the Thimble Islands just 25 minutes up I-95. In next door Bridgeport you can find the Barnum Museum and Fisherman's Cove. The Two Roads Brewery is a popular spot for craft beer lovers besides the railroad tracks in Stratford. Tour the reclaimed factory space and have a cold one! If cooking is your thing, the kitchen boasts a professional Ilve 5 burner duel fuel range with built in rotiserrie. Additionally, the house comes completely stocked including espresso and pasta machines, panini press, fondue set, crepe maker, ice cream churn and bread maker along with a lobster pot, juicer and waffle iron. The cellar holds not only the washer/dryer, but a wine cooler as well as additional pantry items. Beautiful serving dishes and platters allow you to channel your inner Martha Stewart if you like entertaining. If you want a holiday, but still need to be commuting distance to your New York City office, this is the place. The house has wi-fi and a home office in the sun room including printer. So whether you just want to relax and get away from it all or a combination of both, Milford is a great destination! Filming in Connecticut and want a cheaper alternative to hotels for your crew? Inquire about extended stay rates for off season. Guest access 3 bedroom house (king, double, single) with a comfy queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Washer/dryer, ironing board and wine cooler are in the cellar along with beach coolers and reusable shopping bags. Charcoal and propane grills, out door shower and chiminea on the patio. The closest beach entrance is a 2 minute walk past "Temptation Corner" (Walnut Beach Creamery). The foot of the street at the beach wall is an easy kayak/SUP launch site. The driveway bike tent contains a bikes for guest use. The shed holds a tire pump and a croquet set also all beach items including sand castle pails, chairs, umbrellas, beach cart, inflatable whale and swan with air pump and oars. The SUP is stored on a rack on the side of the house. The kayak is adjacent on the fence. Underneath the back deck are storage boxes where you'll find life vests and wheels to tote the kayak and SUP. Other things to note The Milford Ct Post Mall is a big attraction. There are numerous shops and malls all along the Boston Post Road including Whole Foods Market. In the fall there are nearby farms with hay rides, apple and pumpkin picking as well as wineries to explore. Milford is a great midway point for exploring New England Connecticut life and history as well as train trips to New York City to take in a Broadway show!
