Description

Cosy cottagecore hideaway right in the centre of Rye, East Sussex, small but perfectly formed. Unique and peaceful cottage. A romantic getaway for two - friends or lovers ;) *Dot is not modern or full of mod cons, it’s imperfections hold it together. The space Colourful interiors are inspired by the history of the house with almost everything sourced +OLD with a story of its own. Art works by the artist owner and her friends cover the walls. Pieces from various decades sit with a mishmash of colourful fabrics +textiles. A mossy green living room sets the tone for the colourful interiors, with a mix of furniture: a mustard yellow sofa, a clash of various chintz, contemporary art +with an oversized mirror and Staffordshire dogs framing a wood burner. There's a small table for eating in the bay window. The kitchen's starting point was an exposed brick wall discovered during the renovation of the property. Everything is salvage including the kitchen units and splash back which used to form part of a snooker table. There's a small table for eating and a selection of random crockery. Upstairs there’s one bedroom and a bathroom. The bedroom is dominated by the king sized bed, complete with striped curtains hanging from an ornate bed head (formerly a mantel piece), striped valance + striped blinds. The walls are pink, very pink with gilt mirrors +various art works. The double aspect windows provide lots of sky + a lovely light. Considering it's diminutive size, Dot has a sizeable bathroom complete with bath + shower + lovely original wide floor boards. The garden runs out of the back of the house and down the side and is and ideal spot for dining when the weather permits. Pets are welcome. Dot isn’t suitable for large dogs - anything bigger than a small dog / cat please contact me. Let me know you are bringing your furry before hand please. 🐶 🐈 Guest access DRIVING: pull up outside of Dot to unload. Parking available for up to two hours (80p and hour on the Ringo app), then there is a car park a 5 minute walk away which is £2 for 24 hours. Everything within Rye is walkable. Camber Sands and Winchelsea beach are a short drive away. TRAIN:the station is a 5 minute walkaway and very easy to find. Check in is after 3pm and check out is 10am Other things to note Dot is an old property, as are its contents. If you like brand spanking new + minimal, then Dot probably isn't for you. The stairs are maybe a little bit on the steep side - please check the images for suitability. If you are really tall you may struggle with the dimensions of Dot. I don’t allow small children for health and safety reasons. Dot Cottage is only suitable for small pets, it is a small property. If you bring a dog please bring your own towels (and anything else required) for your pet + don’t use the towels provided. DO NOT LEAVE DOGS ALONE on the property at any time + no animals on the furniture please. In Winter I leave just enough logs to get you started with the log burner, I suggest buying more for your stay. Washing up liquid and shower gel are provided. Washing powder for the washing machine is not provided. Oil , vinegar, salt , pepper and a random selection of herbs and spices are left for you to use. Please note check out time is 10am on departure day.
