Nestled in the heart of town, you can walk to playgrounds, cafes, swimming, shopping and galleries. Enjoy pizzas, cocktails and distillery experiences at the adjacent award winning Brewhouse cellar door. Explore the snowy high country, bike, hike, fish, visit Yarrongabilly caves. Mudroom bike-lockup. (NB Mt Tumb closes for winter). The space “Moonshiner Cottage” is Surrounded by 3 acres, overlooking the tumbling Tumbarumba creek and nestled at the bottom of the hill but in the centre of town. No need to get in the car again once you’ve arrived. Secure bike storage. Moonshiner Cottage has a classic cottage layout with an open plan kitchen, living and dining area featuring a cosy fireplace leading onto a wrap around porch. Plenty of spots perfect for curling up with a book, or dozing in the shade or gathering round the BBQ. The three bedrooms include a master bedroom with queen bed, a double bedroom and two king single beds. Modern luxuries with old-world charm, including comfy beds, 1.5 bathrooms, a shower, and spa bath. The shady veranda wraps around the front of the house with BBQ, outdoor dining, and relaxed seating spilling onto the lawns, perfect for outdoor games or sitting around the fire bucket on a cold winter evening whilst watching the stars blaze up the night. A cosy wood fired heater, reverse cycle heating / air-conditioner, feather duvets and enormous shade trees mean that you are comfortable all year around. Smart TV, guest wi-fi. The stream flows through the park at the bottom of the garden to follow the bike path 200 meters to the park, skate bowl, pump track and playground. A games cupboard and bookshelf will help get you in the holiday mood. Housetrained dogs are welcome in the mudroom and verandah areas. Note the property is not fenced. Historical Note: The cottage industry of producing mountain spirits or “Moonshine” has been practiced by farmers for centuries. Operated under the darkness of night (by the light of the moon), old timers would hide away with their stills in the hills to avoid the tax man’s gaze, turning their brews into “sweetwater” and crafting local liquor with skill and tradition. Our Moonshiner’s Cottage is a nod to this history, a lovely hideaway in the hills of the Snowy Valleys, where the creativity is nurtured, inspiration abounds, and spirits are unleashed. With spaces to relax, unwind and explore surrounding the cottage, you can curl up on a cosy couch and enjoy the sweetwaters of the region. The unique styling of the cottage reflects the botanical obsession that underlies our Eliksir Gin, with natural history collections on display, lovingly foraged and collected from walks in the surrounding forests and valleys. We invite you to join us and be enchanted by this magical place. Guest access Guests can enjoy private use of the cottage and gardens. As a bonus to your stay Great pizza dinner can be booked on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Moonshiner Cottage is located on-site adjacent to a working distillery, so a staff member is on site during working hours and deliveries may occur. Cars may enter the cellar door next door during open hours of 11-7 pm on weekends. The grounds are maintained throughout the week but we aim for minimal disruption and keep to mowing etc. to within business hours. Please note!! Pricing is dependant on number of guests booked. Bedding is only made up for number of guests booked. Other things to note We do not charge a cleaning fee but ask guests to please leave the cottage as you found it and put the dishwasher on to assist in keeping our place spotless for all future guests. Lock up bike storage in the mudroom. Snow - Mt Selwyn Snow resort is 76km and about 1 and a half hours away. Bedding is only made up for number of guests booked. The cottage has 2 car spaces. If more guest car parks are needed, we have permission to utilise parking in front of the funeral home. Please don't park in the cellar door car parking area. Albury street is one of the main streets in this small town and can be busy at times, take care leaving the driveway as vehicles can come down the hill quite fast. With the cleanup following the bushfires there are still a lot of trucks about. The footpath by the creekscape is the best way to navigate around. Registration details PID-STRA-62435
