Description
This is the most private and relaxing setting in all of Minnesota! This historic farm called Kelly Knoll, is a family farm founded in 1877 and has been in the same family for five generations. Located south of Annandale Minnesota it sits in the middle of 80 originally homesteaded acres and the main house looks out at a large semi-private environmental lake, which makes for a beautiful nature sanctuary. The space The Preserve of Deer Lake was a family farm purchased in 1877 by the same family that has owned it for four generations. Located south of Annandale Minnesota it sits in the middle of 80 originally homesteaded acres, on a semi-private environmental lake (Deer Lake) that is teaming with wild life of birds (including loons and trumpeter swans), aquatic species and plants. This lake is not a swimming lake, but there are some nice public beaches in the area. There are several activities in town, or you can simply enjoy the property and walk the acres of land, relax in the large wraparound porch, listen to the sounds or take in the sights of total seclusion and nature. Annandale is a resort area and also a working town. It is located just 50 miles west of the Twin Cities. The Preserve of Deer Lake is close in proximity to many other lakes and places of historical interest. The farmhouse has one bedroom with a queen bed; a futon sofa in the living room; one bathroom and a large country kitchen and dining area. There is a large wraparound porch with views to the lake and also to the historical farm buildings and beautiful yard. The home sleeps two comfortably and one pet is welcome with prior approval (and pet fee). Guest access You will be staying on 80 acres and you can walk the grounds and enjoy the sights of the environmental lake. This is an active farm and you may see tractors and large machinery up and down the driveway from time to time. Also tractors are out working the fields at various times of the year. The workers do not come down to the house but you need to be aware there could be farming activity during your stay. Depending on the length of your stay you may also see someone mowing the large yard. You will have access to the main level of the home (the upper level is locked out and basement access is blocked.) No one else is using any area of the house while you are there, those areas are just off limits to guests. The main level does include one bedroom, living room with a futon, a large kitchen area with a large kitchen table, one bathroom, and a large porch area. We limit all stays to maximum of two guests and one pet. Other things to note The acres surrounding this farm are actively farmed at various times of the year. You may see tractors and large machinery up and down the driveway and out in the surrounding fields depending upon the time of year you stay. This property is located three miles from the tourism town of Annandale with a microbrewery, parks, lakes, shopping and historical sites. There are plenty of recreational lakes in the area with either public beaches or public access. It is an ideal location for writers, or anyone wishing for some quiet and solitude. It is the perfect environment to be one with nature. For those who wish to bring a computer or smart phone, the property does have wireless internet.
