The Hayloft
The Hayloft
Description
Looking for a M6 stopover, visiting Carlisle or exploring the lakes, The Hayloft is a delight yet it is within five minutes of the M6. Also just two minutes away from the main bus route from Carlisle to Newcastle. Dating back to 1842 it overlooks a cobbled courtyard & has been tastefully restored to retain the original beams. Offering a high standard of accommodation for a maximum of four people & 2 dogs it’s within walking distance of the Queens pub, Warwick Bridge & the River Eden. The space On the ground floor there is a large lounge/diner with beautiful picture window/door which looks out onto the cobbled courtyard, a newly refurbished kitchen, separate utility room and a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and a kingsize bed. The cosy 2nd bedroom has a skylight window & an original slit window. There is also a large family bathroom with views over the fields. It has a three piece suite and integrated shower over the bath. After a day out exploring Hadrian’s Wall perhaps or venture a little further afield into the borders or the lakes, enjoy a quiet relaxing drink overlooking the courtyard before taking a five minute stroll to The Queens for a meal or take a short drive to Wetheral where you can eat at Fantails or The Crown Hotel. Just so much to do and explore right on the doorstep! Guest access Guests have access to all areas of the cottage apart from the third bedroom which is locked. Other things to note My husband & I have owned the cottage for over ten years . Recently we have replaced all the bedroom carpets upstairs with top quality Brinton carpeting and downstairs we now have Amtico tiling throughout - much more practical, especially in the winter months. We have also refurbished the kitchen in the spring of 2026. We spend quite a lot of time ourselves here as it’s ideal as we are both retired and want to make the cottage a home from home which is ideal for us but also for good for guests.
