The Gate Lodge is a cosy 18th Century stone cottage standing on the edge of the sea, at the entrance of Lough Hyne House property. It has incredible views of the lough, the island and surrounding countryside. The space The Gate Lodge is a very cosy and welcoming place to stay both in the summer and winter. Upstairs, it has one twin bedroom with incredible views of the lough and a single bedroom, both en suite to the bathroom. The spacious living room has a big open fireplace and the kitchen area is to the side. The large dining table sits in the bay window with 180 degree views of the lough - you almost feel like you're dipping your toes in the water while you eat! Guest access There is a special picnic area for your use on the property just behind the Gate Lodge with a table and bench from which you can enjoy another great view of the lough and countryside. Barbecue provided. Guests have access to the private beach. There is a rowing boat on the beach for your use (a couple of life-jackets and the oars are kept in the Gate Lodge). This unforgettable beauty spot is ten minutes drive from the market town of Skibbereen in one direction and the charming fishing village of Baltimore and the islands in the other. Other things to note Some guests may wish to bring extra life jackets as well as wetsuits and waterproof shoes for swimming from the shingle beaches and rocks.
