Description
Groom's Cottage with a wood burning stove is the perfect location for a short break.Sitting in the grounds of a stunning Georgian house, accessed via a traditional walled garden and overlooking a classic cobbled courtyard, this beautiful setting is perfect for relaxing in front of the fire or open the door and there are loads of beautiful walks in the area. The space Breakfast is provided as well as a large complimentary basket of logs for log burner, should you need more logs they are available to buy in the local supermarkets. Guests are welcome to explore the extensive gardens, and surrounding fields. There are fire pits in several locations in the gardens which are for guests to use and for which we provide wood . There are loads of seating areas where one can read and relax as well as observe the wild life around the gardens. Even though the gardens are shared one hardly sees us working or other guests. The Shropshire Union Canal is nearby and the area boasts many footpaths and rights of way for good walking. The bed linen is of finest quality and 100% Egypt cotton, all bed linen and towels are washed at 60’C The stairs in the cottage are fairly steep. The cottage heating and hot water are generated using geothermal ground source energy, promoting a more environmentally friendly stay. The heating is activated by external temperatures and with regard to environmental considerations is set at a level that means it will not generate heat during the summer months. Wool rugs are in the cottage but I can assure you the cottage is toasty warm and the wood burning stove will provide you heat if needed! The washing machine is in a separate building and is a shared facility. ( Hand sanitiser is on top of machine) . We ask for it not to be used in the evenings so not disturb other guests Guest access Please do explore the garden taking care as some paths could be slippery. There is plenty of parking available in the courtyard Other things to note The cottage is extremely quiet so a great place to unwind and at night one can hear the barn owls in the surrounding woods, a real treat. Betton house is a working farm and gardens and therefore there can be the purr of lawnmowers and the odd tractor when we need to roll the fields or feed the cows. Norton in Hales ,our nearest village has EV charging points in the car park The pub The Hinds Head serves high quality food from locally sourced ingredients. The Swan with Two Necks and the Boars Head are 15 minutes drive away and I would recommend them as well. More listings of pubs etc can be found in our guidebook It is best to book a table in advance.
