Enchanting Otekaieke Church Waitaki Valley

This beautiful quaint church is situated in Otekaieke in the stunning Waitaki Valley. This accommodation has been tastefully converted to provide a warm and spacious retreat for one or two couples. Breakfast in the sunshine on the verandah overlooking farmland, the river valley and the Campbell Hills. This quiet and peaceful setting is situated only 35mins drive from the Victorian township of Oamaru. The space A beautiful and tranquil church conversion that accommodates a one or two couple stay, where you have the entire property to yourself.  This historic and spacious little church built in around 1940 sits not far from our old schoolhouse and headmaster’s quarters which dates back to 1908. It was originally the Church of the Good Shepherd, a Presbyterian church built to serve the local community. Our properties overlook fertile farmland, hazelnut groves, fruit orchards and the expansive Campbell Hills and St Mary ranges. We welcome our guests to wander up to the Old School and walk amongst the hazelnut grove and woodlot and interact with our free range hens, heritage breed pigs and Wiltshire sheep. Guest access A little Sunday school room sits alongside the church and was constructed from old army barracks; our old Sunday School room is ideal for a weekend yoga retreat and artisans who love to paint, draw and write. The space can accommodate a single guest but this is only suited to warmer summer days as it still has its original slightly rustic charm. 'Sunday School Room Available Upon Request’. Other things to note Whilst we don't offer wifi or television our location does have very good Spark 4G coverage. Our little church and old school are available for small functions or gatherings such as an intimate wedding or anniversary celebration. We are also available for artist workshops or yoga/health retreats. Please feel free to discuss any thoughts you may have. We may also be able to provide an evening meal or packed lunch with a little advanced notice (min 4 people).
