Spacious, airconditioned room with attached washroom located on the upper floor of our home. The unit is reached via a single flight of broad stairs. Has two beds (with the option of a 3rd), wall cupboards, a wardrobe, sink, a large table which doubles up as a workspace/dining table and cooking facilities. The bookcase contains fact & fiction and publications by the hosts on Sri Lanka, with comfortable chairs to relax in and read. Photographs and paintings by Sri Lankan artists adorn the walls. The space A 380 square-foot ensuite unit with two beds, a wardrobe, built-in cupboards with utensils and space for storage. Room includes a small sink, mini fridge, infrared cooker, microwave oven and dishes, crockery and cutlery for 2/3 persons, electric jug kettle, hair dryer, iron, etc. Air-conditioned and with fans, the room is a sealed unit with no mosquitoes. However, nets can be provided. Washroom has solar hot water with an electrical option to ensure hot water on rainy days as well. Linen, towels and toiletries are provided. Room clean and linen change done midweek for guests staying a week/more. Laptop-friendly workspace and free WiFi. Additional bed provided by prior arrangement @ $10 per day. Guest access Guests can enjoy the main house garden, a place of gentle breezes, tall trees, and birds, to sit, relax, read or smoke (no smoking within the room) or sip a beverage or brew! The passageway outside the room can also be used to sit and smoke. The unit is on the first floor and is reached via the driveway, a flight of fifteen broad steps and a passageway which ends at the room. Keys to the unit door and gate are given to guests so that they have freedom of access. The driveway is well-lit at night. Other things to note Located in a quiet and secure residential area of Colombo 5. The owners have very 3 lovable pet dogs and 2 cats who have a run of the premises but do not have access to the guest apartment provided you keep your door closed. Ideal place for dog lovers. Some power tool noise (drills, etc) may be heard occasionally as renovations are taking place in a neighbouring house. But the premises is set well back from the road so there are no noises of traffic whatsoever. It is a safe place in a good neighborhood where young women feel comfortable coming in late at night/in the early hours of the morning. The driveway is well lit and there is a street lamp directly opposite the front gate. Electricity is from the national grid. But current can be supplied to router, lights and fridge via an inverter during power failures. Free wifi subject to Fair Use Policy. We have another unit within the premises on the ground floor and both units can be booked by two parties traveling together or by parents with grownup children. Extra bed can be supplied for the unit @ USD 10 per night (for children of 15 years and above or an additional adult sharing room). Free wifi subject to Fair Use Policy. Room cleanup and fresh linen weekly for those staying a week or more. Within walking distance of restaurants, bus routes, supermarkets & Havelock City Mall. Uber & Pickme taxis/tuktuks easily obtainable within minutes.
