Description
Onetai Estate is a peaceful bush sanctuary for quiet escapes and slow Coromandel stays, with space to host up to 16 guests for private group retreats. Enjoy spa soaks beneath the open sky, fire-lit outdoor spaces, a wood-fired pizza oven, BBQ, gardens, native tracks and glowworms after dusk — set beside the Hauraki Rail Trail, a place for spirit, thought, and connection. The space Named after the great spotted kiwi, Rōaroa captures its quiet, grounded spirit: a profound stillness that senses everything. Sunlight, filtered through the delicate veil of native bush, traces a slow dance upon the floor, mirroring the garden’s patient expanse. At the room’s heart rests a Queen double bed, a soft hollow for weary wings to fold — spacious, restful, and made for deep sleep beneath the hush of the trees. Set on the upper level, with garden-facing windows and birdsong at dawn, Rōaroa offers ample wardrobe space for longer stays and is ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking stillness. Here, in the shelter of the native bush and the room’s deep calm, thoughts settle into the rich earth of the mind, and senses subtly expand. This quiet is not absence; it is the vibrant presence of the forest floor — alive, attentive, and waiting for your arrival. Guests are welcome to wander the grounds, enjoy the shared communal spaces, and step directly into the forest-edge calm of Onetai. Thoughtful amenities are provided — fresh towels, gentle lighting, and simple comforts. In winter, the estate is warmed by underfloor heating and two lit fires, with blankets waiting in the lounge for slow evenings. In summer, the room remains cool and airy beneath the trees. Fast Wi-Fi is available throughout the estate, suitable for working, streaming, or video conferencing. Facilities for Your Pause- Bathing: The flow of water is thoughtfully shared in an ensuite sanctuary. Convenience: A powder room waits below, accessible to all guests. Free parking is available on-site, with an easy arrival and space to settle in gently. Rōaroa is one of Onetai’s most restful sanctuaries — often chosen for anniversaries, quiet escapes, and deep winter sleep. Step into Rōaroa: listen closely, and let the deep silence awaken within. Guest access Guests have access to their private room and the shared communal spaces of the house, including lounge and dining areas. You’re also welcome to enjoy the wider estate grounds — gardens, outdoor seating areas, and the gentle bush-edge tracks surrounding the property. On-site parking is available, and having a vehicle is strongly recommended, as there is no public transport servicing Onetai Estate. For guests staying three nights or more, airport transfers from Auckland, Hamilton, or Tauranga may be available by prior arrangement (a contribution toward fuel is appreciated). Local guiding or driving assistance can also be arranged in advance if desired. During your stay We respect our guests’ privacy and the quiet rhythm of the estate. We’re usually nearby and available if you need anything. The best way to reach us is through Airbnb messaging, and we respond quickly. After booking, you’ll receive our direct contact details in your arrival information. Warmly, Onetai Estate Other things to note Onetai Estate is a quiet sanctuary designed for rest, reflection, and connection with the land. It is best suited to guests seeking calm, nature, and unhurried space rather than late-night noise or party-style stays. Bathrooms at the estate are shared, and part of the Onetai experience is the gentle rhythm of co-existence — birdsong in the morning, stillness at night, and the presence of the bush close by. Onetai holds multiple rooms across the property, and we’re often able to welcome guests travelling together. If you are arriving as a group, seeking multiple rooms, or envisioning something larger — a retreat, celebration, or full-estate stay — we invite you to message us in advance so we can guide you toward the best arrangement. Please note that Onetai is not a party venue. Events or gatherings are only permitted when privately booked and agreed in advance. Additional offerings and full-estate stays may be available by prior arrangement.
