This is a small lakefront cottage on Little Sebago Lake in Gray, Maine. The camp has a full kitchen, its own well (so no need to carry in drinking water) and small deck. There is a gas fireplace stove for heat, full size refrigerator and gas range, toaster oven, microwave and small auto drip coffee maker. There is one bedroom and a bunkroom type area upstairs with 2 other beds. Max of 4 people (due to the age and size of the septic). This is a cozy, rustic space on the best part of the lake (in my opinion!). Wonderful for summer swimming and boating and so beautiful during the fall foliage season! This is one of the few seasonal camps with a well with great water, so you don't have to carry water in. I want to emphasize RUSTIC. This is a seasonal camp built in the 1950's. It's clean and comfortable, but it's not luxurious. It's also Maine where there are mice and mosquitoes. I use sonic mouse deterrents which have worked very well, providing no food is left out to temp them, with only one guest in several years having seen a mouse (after leaving food out). There are 3 adult size kayaks (2 sit-on-tops and one recreational style - wide cockpit) that are very stable. There are also 2 smaller sit on top kayaks suitable for children, a canoe and a rowboat. Plenty of paddles and adult PFDs. There are a couple of children's life jackets, but I would recommend bringing ones you know will fit your child(ren) properly if you'll be doing any boating. PFDs and whistle's (I have those, too) are required when boating or paddle boarding - or you may get a ticket from a ranger. There is a fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill, hammock and other assorted toys. The yard is flat with easy entry to the water and shallow quite a ways out. It's nice for wading, but -as most lakes do - it gets a bit mushy about 15 to 20 feet out. It varies with how much use it gets. We are right across from "the rock" that people come from around the lake to jump from and it's a great lake to kayak or boat around. This is the upper bay of the lake and is quieter than the larger sections. There IS motor boat and jet ski activity, just not as constant or as fast as in some other parts of the lake. Inside is mostly new, or nice vintage furniture and appliances. There is high speed wifi and a smart tv. No cable channels, but you can log into your own accounts, such as Netflix, Prime, etc. Just remember to log out when you leave. I'm going to try offering towels and bedding again this year, with cozy flannel sheets (and extra blankets) for spring and fall when it's cold at night. The gas stove heats the downstairs well, but does not heat the upstairs. There is no laundry on site, but there is a laundromat in Gray. Dishes, pans, cutlery, etc. are all included. As is toilet paper and a starter roll of paper towels, and plastic storage (wrap, baggies, etc.). There are also basic condiments and oil - salt and pepper, olive oil, ketchup and mustard. You'll have full access to the whole camp and yard. There is also a storage shed for the paddles and other equipment. The camp sits below the road, but parking is on the road behind it. You can drive in to unload your stuff. I'm about a half hour away and generally am only there for check in/out when guests are there, though I may stop by now and then. I'll always respond as soon as possible if a guest has questions or needs something. The Portland Jetport is about 30 minutes away. There are both year round and seasonal homes all around the lake. Our road is well paved, but please drive slowly and safely since there are lots of children and pets around. It's about 10 minutes to a good grocery store (about 5 to a convenience store), 15 or less to Gray Center, 30 minutes to Portland. There is no local public transportation. You will definitely need a car to get around. Please note that this camp is not suitable for toddlers -or anyone who might have trouble on stairs. The stairs are narrow and steep and there is no railing on one side and no balusters on the side with the railing. Children 5 and older that are comfortable on stairs and can use these stairs safely are welcome - or infants who are not yet able to walk. (Also note that I do not have any supplies or equipment for infants, so you would have to bring your own.)
