A 200-year old heritage home with a courtyard and a Durga Temple (Dalan) in the heart of North Kolkata. Renovated by a film maker, the photogenic interiors blend bohemian exuberance with new age spirituality. Durga Puja by the extended family can be observed in the Dalan. The airy garden terraces of this home are a unique feature rarely found in Kolkata homes. Please note, 40 steps have to be climbed up to the room and there is no lift (elevator). The space Chrysalis Twin Room 1 has two comfortable single beds and is covered in original art by Iranian violinist and painter Damoon Yaghoobi. It has large windows, a table and lamp, and an antique closet. There are two bathrooms shared by a maximum of six guests, and an airy hallway leads to the kitchen and terrace. Guest access Parking within the property for motorbikes. On street parking for cars is quite safe. Girish Park metro stop is a 15 minute walk. During your stay We sometimes stay at Bhubanbari but there is a caretaker and a janitor who live on the premises, a female manager and cleaner. They are trusted employees who have been with the family for years. We have had many female guests who have stayed alone in complete safety. Other things to note Smoking is allowed in open areas as long as other guests are okay with it. Laundry service is available. Small pets are allowed.
