Description

Stunning, newly renovated 4 season lakefront cottage with vaulted ceilings, beautiful views of the lake, southern exposure, fully equipped modern kitchen with granite counter tops & stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors throughout. An oversized deck overlooks the lake and an easy set of steps take you down to the private sandy beach with 100 feet of shoreline, and deep water off the dock. Fabulous snowmobile trails and located in the geocaching capital of Canada! Prices include HST. The space Monthly rates for January, February & March are available. Please message us for details. Our 4 season cottage has vaulted ceilings and panoramic views of the lake. Inside is newly renovated and beautifully furnished with an Aretmano dining table made from Indian rosewood, granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen is very well appointed and ideal for those who love to cook. The living room is spacious and open concept with a wood burning fireplace for those chilly evenings. Outside there is a large deck and a screened in summerhouse, both of which overlook the lake. Southern exposure provides sun all day long and the sunsets from the dock can be spectacular. The cottage is set up in the trees and feels very private, however, there are only about 25 steps to the beach, with 2 natural rest areas and sturdy railings (except for the last few steps to the beach). The 100' feet of pristine private sandy beach is spectacular and really sets this property apart in summer! The beach is perfect for young children to splash about and for people of all ages to have safe, gentle access to the lake. But there is also deep water off the dock for those of you who love to jump or dive in! The water is clean and clear and beautiful, with no pesky weeds in the swimming area. Southern exposure ensures there is full sun from sunrise to sunset on the dock and the beach! For the winter, the cottage has baseboard heating in every bedroom, both bathrooms, and the living and dining rooms, each controlled by their own individual wall mounted thermostats. The heating is wifi controlled so you will arrive to a nice warm cottage. The cottage is very close to snowmobile trails and about half an hour away from Sir Sam's where you can ski, snowshoe and snowboard in the terrain park. They have a ski school and lots of programs for the kids. The cottage is also very close to Haliburton and people love the dog sledding tours through the forest! Closer to home, you can play on the frozen lake - shovel off a space to skate on the ice, make a curling rink, or just take a walk through the forest and enjoy the beauty! Or, stay in, put on a fire, and while away the days reading and relaxing, and playing cards or board games. There are 3 bedrooms in the cottage. The master bedroom has an incredibly comfortable king size bed with a memory foam mattress, an ensuite 4 piece bathroom with a tub and shower, sliding glass doors on the south side overlooking the lake, and a large window on the north side. The middle bedroom has a very comfortable bunk bed, with a twin XL mattress over a queen size bed. The 3rd bedroom also has an extremely comfortable king size memory foam mattress. All of our beds are top of the line and very comfortable, and our linens are always freshly laundered before your arrival. We love our cottage and our neighbours, some of whom have been on the lake for 50+ years. The cottage is perfect for people looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway in a well-loved and maintained cottage, in a beautiful setting. It is ideal for four to six adults, or families with children. This is NOT a suitable property for groups that are looking for a place to have loud parties. Pets must be pre-approved. Pets are not permitted on inside or outside furniture or on beds. PLEASE NOTE: The closest dump and transfer station are not open every day. We provide information on winter and summer dump/transfer station hours in the cottage manual, and in the cottage kit along with the dump pass. If the dump/transfer station is closed on the day you are departing, you may want to do a big dump run the closest day to your departure so you don't have much to take home with you. PLEASE NOTE - LAUNDRY: Multiple loads of laundry on check-in and check-out days (laundering all the linens and towels), are extremely hard on a cottage's septic system and can lead to problems with the septic and damage our beautiful lake. As such, laundry facilities are only available for multi-week rentals. If you feel you may require laundry during your short stay, please let us know. We are pleased to supply your basic necessities to save you the trouble of bringing absolutely everything with you! If you have any specific questions about what we have on site, and things we have in the kitchen, please let us know! • Kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, baking dishes, utensils, serving dishes, cutting boards… and there are lots of cups, glasses, wine glasses, cocktail glasses, and champagne flutes… If there is something specific you might need or want, please let me know and I’ll tell you if we have it! • Plastic glasses, plates and bowls for the beach • Indoor towels and linens (please bring your own beach towels) • Toilet paper. We supply 8 rolls that are the equivalent of 3 or 4 per roll. • Kleenex (please do not put down toilets) • Paper towel (we leave one or two mega rolls, but if you are prolific users of paper towel you may want to bring some additional rolls) • A selection of shampoos and conditioners • Body wash • Hair dryers • Hand soap • Dish soap and dishwasher pods • A selection of tea and coffee, and some decaf options as well • Coffee pot, espresso maker, and kettle • Salt & pepper, sugar, etc. * Selection of oils and vinegars * Various condiments * Firewood We really encourage you to look in all the drawers in the dresser in the dining room, and in the kitchen, so you get an idea of what we have on hand. BBQ: We have a Weber grill, and typically stock a couple of extra tanks of propane. If you accidentally leave the gas on, you can get a replacement at the Lucky Dollar or the gas station in Gooderham. We also have a charcoal BBQ for those of you who prefer to grill those steaks old school style. We do not supply charcoal. Outdoor furniture: We have outdoor couches and chairs and an outdoor dining set on the deck, and some chairs and a picnic table down on the beach. The screened in porch is perfect for bug free lounging and/or dining. The table top lifts off and if you pick it up and turn it, it changes height from a coffee table to a dining table. Water: We have delicious well water that is checked regularly and run through a series of filters including one that takes the minerals out as well as a UV filter! Entertainment: There is a smart TV so you can use your Netflix and Spotify accounts, and you can “cast” movies from your devices. We are also pleased to provide high speed internet and a good quality sound system. We are also pleased to provide a few board games and some books. We have a blue tooth speaker in the master bedroom, that you can use to play music from your smartphones/iPods etc… We have a couple of kayaks and life jackets for you in the summer. You can even kayak over to the public dock in Gooderham if you run out of something! Heating: Every room has baseboard heating that we can turn on so the cottage will be warm if you are arriving in the winter. Fireplace: The fire is very efficient and adds a wonderful ambience at night. Forget something? The little store in Gooderham has pretty much everything you could ever need (except fresh meat). They have everything from soup to nuts including fresh vegetables, dairy products, water, charcoal, lighters, snacks…! Gooderham also boasts an LCBO (but if you are an oenophile you might want to stock up in the city), a gas station, and a Chinese/American diner. Looking for something to do? You are about 20 minutes from Haliburton, which has some cute little stores and an art gallery to explore. Up River makes a very nice latte, and they have lovely things in the store. You can also grab lunch at one of the cafes (Hook, Line & Sinker, and Kozy Korner), or lunch or dinner at McKech’s, if you don’t feel like cooking. Haliburton Wolf Centre is also open some days – but you should check online for opening times. Dog sledding is available in the winter, and you can meet the happy huskies in the off season! Minden is about 35 minutes away – and is also a cute little town for exploring. Rhubarb is a very nice restaurant for dinner – and is on the way to Minden. Bancroft is larger, but is farther. Bobcaygeon is 40 minutes away and has some great shops. Everyone loves Bobcaygeon. Bonnieview Inn is almost 30 minutes away, and is a wonderful spot for dinner! Please call ahead as you may need a reservation. Smoking: One key thing… Please do not smoke in the cottage or the outbuildings. If anyone does smoke outside, please dispose of all remains. Thank you so much! PLEASE NOTE: Our property does not include the boathouse to the right of the beach (when you are facing the lake), or the boats leaning against the boathouse. Guest access We store some personal belongings and supplies in the basement, which is private space. Longer term guests (those staying longer than 1 week) will have full use of the laundry facilities. Other things to note All of the cottage toilets and sinks are on a septic system. (This means we are not connected to a city sewer or drain system). This is normal for any home or cottage in a rural location. Our septic is in excellent condition but it is ESSENTIAL that everyone in your group understand the following basic rules in order to avoid problems during your stay. BASIC SEPTIC RULES 1. Nothing can go down the toilet except human waste and septic-friendly toilet paper. 2. No food waste, coffee grinds or grease can go down the sinks. 3. Long showers or multiple back-to-back showers may cause toilets and drains to backup. 4. Due to the strain on the system on check-in and check-out days (washing all the linens and towels in preparation for your stay), laundry facilities are generally only provided for multi-week stays. This help us preserve not only our system, but the health of our beautiful lake. If you feel you may require laundry during your stay, please ask in advance of booking.
