Waters’ Edge is a 3-bedroom bungalow which sits unobtrusively on the edge of a lake, with views of three ancient stupas standing sentinel across the water. Elegantly designed to blur the lines between nature and structure, the bungalow is nestled within an expansive forest garden, teeming with birds and small wildlife. Spend the days exploring historic monasteries & sites, bird watching on the Tissa Wewa bund, or enjoying the views from our verandah. Perfect for nature and history buffs alike. The space ABOUT THE PROPERTY Our 3-bedroom bungalow is designed to flow harmoniously with its natural surroundings. Relax in airy, tastefully decorated bedrooms with king-sized beds and mosquito nets. All rooms come with air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. The verandah opens out into a forest garden planted, grown and lovingly pruned by the owners with the view of keeping it as wild as possible. The three historic stupas and Tissa Wewa can be seen from a distance right from the verandah. The bungalow is a family-run business and operates simply and efficiently. We have two staff members who look after our guests with care. Breakfast is included free of charge. If you would like half board (dinner included) or full board (lunch + dinner included) this will incur a further charge. Please note that, while we do not provide alcohol / drinks at the premises, you are welcome to bring your own. BOOKING WATERS EDGE - When you book Waters Edge, you book the entire bungalow. - Pricing is based on the number of guests. Once your booking comes through, we will contact you to find out how many bedrooms are required. Any bedrooms that are not in use will be locked during your stay. - Breakfast is included free of charge. - We also provide lunch and dinner at an additional charge per guest per night. To contact us about adjusted rates, put in your booking reservation for B&B only and then send us a message letting us know if you prefer half board (dinner added) or full board (lunch and dinner added). We will confirm pricing with your via messages and update your booking cost directly if you decide to move forward. CLOSE TO NATURE The bungalow has been designed to co-exist harmoniously with nature. Common areas are open to the elements but can be covered when it rains. Expect to see squirrels scurrying in the rafters, monkeys leaping the trees of the forest garden, and constant birdsong throughout the day! The garden is pruned only in certain areas, to allow the natural ecosystem to thrive. When exploring the premises, be sure to stick to cleared areas around the house, where the grass is short. Be on the lookout for small reptiles and ensure children are supervised at all times. Please bring your own mosquito repellent and wear it especially at dawn and dusk! ACTIVITIES - Bird watch from the Tissa Wewa lake bund - The ancient city of Anuradhapura is a quick tuk tuk ride away, and boasts many historic and sacred sites. We recommend Abhayagiri and Jethavanaramaya complexes in particular. - Safari to Wilpattu National Park (30 mins drive) - Mihintale mountain peak (30 mins drive) - Tantrimale ancient monastery (60 mins drive) If you'd like more information, please reach out to us! Guest access - The bungalow has three bedrooms which will be accessible depending on the number of rooms in use. Eg. if only 2 rooms are in use, the third will be inaccessible. - Guests have access to the main bungalow’s common relaxation areas and kitchenette for preparing tea and coffee. - Guests also have access to a garden which leads down to the Tissa Wewa lake although we advise caution due to the existence of insects and small reptiles. - Guests do not have access to staff quarters and the main kitchen. Other things to note Do we look familiar? You may have stayed at Waters Edge previously via another Airbnb page.
