49 Water Street. Our 160 year old home is located in the middle of Amish country & decorated with relics of days gone by. You'll find 2 bedrooms upstairs and a futon in 1 of the 2 downstairs living rooms, sleeps 6 comfortably. A fully equipped kitchen, private wifi, towels, linens included. Two porches to relax & watch the Amish buggies going by. Our Dayze Gone Bye Carriage Rides business is next door & available for scenic tour, enjoy our animals or sit by the creek. Juice & coffee provided. The space There are antiques and collectables throughout the home. The master bedroom has an Amish made quilt on the bed and a spinning wheel sits in the one corner. Second bedroom has matching hand made comforters. The bathroom upstairs includes a shower with lots of hot water, towels, soaps, shampoo. The kitchen is fully equipped and you have an independent wifi for those who need to work while on vacation. There are 2 porches, 1 with a wooden swing and table and chairs to sit and enjoy the scenery. The 2nd gives you a terrific view of Water Street where you can sit on white wicker furniture while you enjoy the horses and buggies clip-clopping by. There's a beautiful creek on the property with bridges to cross it. Enjoy our creek and there's a walking path and playground by the creek. There are picnic tables, a swing and a wishing well. Have a picnic near our quiet country stream and feel free to share your bread with the minnows in the creek! You may even be lucky enough to see a crayfish walking by. On the other side of the creek is a brand-new playground complete with swings, sliding boards, merry-go-round and climbing opportunities galore! While the children and young at heart are enjoying the playground, others can take advantage of a paved walking path that follows the creek and goes around an historic antique barn and returns to your starting point. Be sure to enjoy the many sights and sounds of the squirrels, horses and birds during your stroll. Guest access o Amish made donuts are available just up our street within walking distance on Wednesdays & Saturdays from 6 a.m. until noon. o Located 32 miles from Penn State, 11 miles from Greenwood Furnace State Park, 26 miles from Raystown Lake. Lincoln Caverns (cave) is 19 miles. If you like hiking 1000 steps is 13 miles away and 3 miles to the hawk watch. o You have access to our barn and animals. Sit by the creek, enjoy the waterfalls, the walk bridge. En joy the public playground and walking path 🚶♂️ on the other side of our creek. Step back in time and come enjoy a bygone era at Dayze Gone bye! o You reserve the whole house which has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, 1 bedroom downstairs if needed or use it as a sitting room. A comfortable living room with coach, recliner & other chairs, artificial fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, table & chairs, dishes, silverware and cookware. The foyer has an electric organ and access to the front porch. Off street parking beside the house and plenty of room if you have a boat or multiple vehicles. Other things to note *Allensville Donuts - walking distance. Take a right from the driveway and make a left onto Cyderpress Lane. By far, the best donuts -- So close you can almost smell them. Available Wednesday and Saturday Mornings only (cash only) Be sure to go early! Hours are 6am -12pm! *Heritage Family Restaurant has delicious home-cooked Amish Style Food-Buffet or Menu -.25 Mile *Good Ole Cheese House - 2 Miles. Delicious sandwiches, Bulk Food, Lunchmeat, Groceries. We are 32 miles from Penn State, State College, easy access from route 655 to either route 305 or 322. Route 305 is a rural and over the mountain and 322 is a 4 lane highway. Recreational places nearby: Greenwood Furnace State Park 11 miles. Raystown Lake - 26 miles Thousand Steps 13 miles: Jacks Mountain is home to the famous "Thousand Steps" which are part of the National Heritage Trail. Jacks Mountain at 2,321 feet is quite a large mountain, especially for Pennsylvania. Also, when you consider that the base to summit elevation gain is 1,715 feet, you'll understand that you've got quite a hoof ahead of you. Jacks Mountain is located in PA's central mountain region, also known as the main range of the Appalachians. This Belleville flea market - 7 miles on Wednesdays is a must-see experience. There you can see the 3 different sects of Amish that live in our beautiful Valley. You can buy new and used items here plus watch them sell all types of animals from goats, sheep, pigs, cows, horses, rabbits, chickens and the list goes on. It's best to arrive early around 8 a.m. because it starts winding down around 1 p.m.
