Op-i-c, directly translated as "On-the Sea" has been in our family since 1969, when my grandfather and legendary journalist, Skakel Kriek bought it along with three other plots. The legacy of Skakel, one of the first journalists to interview Nelson Mandela in 1972, lives on in a house with a colourful history, filled with memories of large Christmas gatherings and late night conversation. Its is perfect for a family holiday or why not come and enjoy a romantic short break away from the stresses of everyday living. The picturesque village of Rooiels lies close to the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, an area of such natural beauty and floral diversity that it is recognized by UNESCO as one of the world's greatest biodiversity hot-spots. Scenery varies from rocky coastlines to pristine white beaches and stunning sunsets over False Bay, a true haven for bird watchers and temporary home to visiting Southern Right Whales from August to November. Rooiels is a very security conscious community with 24/7 security patrols and our property comes with security gates and a rapid response alarm system. To be honest, the only burglar that you may encounter will be one of our local baboons, so keep the gates closed, day and night.
