The Old Duck House

The Old Duck House is a very cosy, luxury, self-catering holiday cottage on the edge of Northumberland National Park, near Alnwick, Cragside, Hadrian's Wall and Rothbury, as well as Bamburgh, Craster and Seahouses on Northumberland's Heritage Coast. The Old Duck House is a detached cottage close to the burn, making it ideal for spotting aquatic wildlife. The space Entry is directly into a compact combined kitchen and living area with original exposed beams and two small windows directly overlooking the Wreigh Burn. The kitchen area has oak block work surfaces, tiled walls and an integrated oven, hob, microwave and refrigerator. Immediately alongside the kitchen area is the living area, which comprises two wing-back armchairs, a terracotta tiled floor with underfloor heating and a delightful little wood-burning stove. There is a wall-mounted flat-screen television with Freeview and cupboards over, as well as small folding tables for dining. Through a door immediately to the left of the kitchen area is a comfortably equipped shower room with wc and basin. Another farmhouse oak door off the living area provides access to a very small bedroom with a double bed, overhead storage cupboards, wall-mounted television and DAB radio. Immediately outside is a fully enclosed patio area suitable for pets, with table and chairs from which to enjoy the evening sun. Please note the accommodation in The Old Duck House is small and is only suitable for two adults (there is no room for a cot or high chair). However, if space is not your priority and you enjoy watching the wildlife on the burn close up, this is the cottage for you. One advantage is that in winter The Old Duck House takes seconds to warm up when you return from a long walk! Free Wi-Fi is available in this cottage Storage shed with BBQ, Tennis rackets & balls and a small freezer On-Site Tennis court For use solely by guests at Burnfoot, championship tennis court, newly constructed in 2009, and refurbed 2019. Burnfoot is named due to it being where two streams (burns) meet and it is the perfect place for exploration and adventure, imaginations can be fired up by the otters, deer, badgers, salmon, owls, kingfishers and many other rare birds that can be seen regularly from the cottages.
