We really enjoyed our stay at Avalon Port Douglas and especially the outdoor kitchen and living area. The house really had that tropical feel and was very private. Kids loved the outdoor bath. Four mile beach was only a short walk away even with kids. Both beach and house looked better in reality than in the photo's I'd seen. (Guest comment). There are 4 very generous bedrooms - all separated from each other offering maximum privacy. All have dedicated air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Home theatre room has a 5 mtr long lounge and huge 65" TV (Cable), sound system, DVD etc - there is a Balinese Day bed in a private alcove off this room. Main bedroom (with TV) is like a private suite with it's own office area and massive wardrobe room - also has private spa bath and lounges in a separate private pavilion. Second bedroom is bigger than most mains with a King size bed (can be 2 singles), private access to bathroom. This room opens onto it's own deck floating in the lush green gardens. The 3rd Bedroom is accessed via the sunroom and overlooks the gardens - generous space with Queen bed, large 'robe and quiet seating area. The 4th bedroom is private with 2 single beds and a 3rd trundle bed that can also fit in any of the bedrooms if needed. We also have a cot, high-chair etc for the younger guests. Pool Pavilion - this is the community hub of Avalon. 5 mtr high eaves supported by massive timber poles, surrounded by green palms/ferns and overlooking the pool and waterfall, cooled by tropical fans (am I dreaming?!) - it has plenty of relaxing lounges to watch TV while sipping a chilled wine or fresh brewed cappuccino .... or have a frozen margarita in the spa while watching the news! Main Kitchen area is gas with large fridge and separate freezer - easy to use and has everything you could ask for .... or leave the cooking to the 'blokes' with the BBQ and outdoor kitchen area. Dining can be casual or formal. The table is made of solid granite and we supply a full (12 pce) Mikasa dinner set - but find the more basic white sets are most used. Much appreciated by guests is the cupboard full of melamine ware and plastic for the kids. Avalon is a very secure property - drive into a double lock up garage or enter through the gate house (buzzed in from inside or keyed) Heaps more to share but ..... come and see for yourself.
