Your own private gallery in a verdant valley
Your own private gallery in a verdant valley
Description
If you like large modern spaces, and fancy hanging around sculpture for more than a quick gallery visit then this may appeal. The setting is rural and peaceful and the accommodation is spacious and light yet cosy. The sculpture is at close quarters within your apartment and in the well tended garden. A sofa bed can be supplied to expand to four people for an extra cost per person. Babies are welcome but it is not an environment for toddlers. The space You do not have to be well versed in art to stay here. It is an incredibly large and tranquil space for this price and will comfortably house four people with the addition of a sofa bed on the ground floor. Your space is open-plan with a mezzanine, is spacious, and is a functional gallery but is closed to the public during your stay ...it is generally an appointment only gallery. The sculpture in and around the house some of which is for sale changes around as pieces leave and return pending exhibitions and gallery changeovers. Your living space totals aprox 125 square meters. The garden is tidily landscaped and very green and contemplative. It has a stream gently flowing past with an old weir. there are two or three secluded places to sit and enjoy the the peace and quiet. Farm traffic increases during sowing and harvest but other than that the lizard peninsular is very limited with traffic compared to the north coast beaches. The garden is at its best, as most Cornish gardens are, in the late spring. I have designed and planted in such a way as to create structural interest in the colder months. Autumn in Cornwall is also sublime and the changing colours within the planting is punctuated with the sculpture. Please note there is no TV. Mainly due to there being no signal in the valley. However the wifi is sufficient for streaming from mobile or laptop devices as most people do. As mentioned above, the facilities and space will easily service four people. The mezzanine is spacious as is the lower floor and a sofa bed would be for the extra guests. Lovely powerful shower heated from a ground source heat pump. All electric , no gas, ...hence no need for carbon monoxide detector although there is one. The artworks are not just for show ... they are for sale and you may see something you like .... the advantage being you will be living with it for a while. The sculpture changes as it is sold or sent for exhibitions so the images supplied are indicative of that moment only. You may be an architect or designer looking for pieces for your next project or you may merely be an enthusiast .... all are welcome. If you are considering a sculpture for home or garden then a short stay here may kill two birds. The apartment cost are not subject to seasonal change. If you need the sofa bed you will need to request it at time of booking , otherwise two lounge chairs will be part of the furnishings. This is not really a space for toddlers but babies, yes, or a single older child perhaps could be happy with the sofa bed on the lower floor. Please note that if on a diving trip with equipment you must request a booking for reasons stated in the booking conditions section. It relates to previous problems with washing and storing diving equipment in the apartment. Guest access Kitchen, lower floor, mezzanine, part of the garden. There are other spaces to use that are not part of the listing for review purposes and access is granted at discretion. I say this, as for example the conservatory and other parts of the garden are changeable spaces and less private than your otherwise spacious allocated spaces. Some people are very private and others like to expand in to the whole space. Use of the other spaces does not compromise the privacy of your allocated spaces and is just an extra bonus should you choose to wander. Other things to note It is generally a quiet contemplative place. It is a rural setting so there will be animal noises and agricultural traffic especially at sowing and harvest. I like the idea that if you are an artist you may bring your paints or sketchpad. If you are a musician , then your acoustic instrument, ( no amplifiers of course , we must consider the neighbours ). A cello sounds very good in the studio. But no matter, if you just want to get away from the faster pace of life and absorb and appreciate the surroundings then this is quite good option. I stress again it is rural and nature is rife. Please note that I no longer permit diving equipment in the apartment. I have found that some that have come have only used the space as laundry house and storage and drying facility for equipment and to my dismay draped over delicate areas. You are free to store and dry this outside in specific areas or I can arrange space in the conservatory where it will dry rapidly and out of harms way. The holiday traffic is very light around here. the busiest place on the lizard peninsular tends to be Kynace cove and it absorbs a lot of the holiday traffic. So it's very easy to get around locally around Coverack, Helford, Porthallow and Manaccan etc. and the area generally attracts specialised visitors like hikers , divers , cyclists etc. Places to take note of are The Fat apples cafe , The White Hart and Three tuns ... pubs in the village. Roskillies ... Great food and live music. 'The Greenhouse restaurant in the village of St. Keverne is a top class establishment and a real treat but you HAVE TO book before you arrive as it is intimate and popular. The Halzephron Inn in Gunwalloe and the Shipwrights in Helford village.
