Description
A lovely, cosy, 200 year old stone cottage with views across open countryside and a millpond. This accommodation is close to Silverdale, Kirkby Lonsdale, the Howgills, the Lake District and the North Yorkshire Dales. A great base to explore by bike or on foot! We are just 5 minutes drive from junction on the M6 and close to several National Cycle routes and walking trails, so very accessible, by car and cycle & there's a bus stop just 10 mins walk. The space A large double/ triple room. The shared bathroom with shower/ bath is handy next door. This stone, 3 story, mill-workers cottage is cosy, peaceful accommodation in a rural setting, yet within easy distance of some spectacular scenery. There is a shared kitchen and living room area. The sunny rear courtyard is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a morning coffee and the paved area to the front is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down in the evening. There is a wood burning stove in the living room, secure storage space for bikes in a little stone workshop, a pub within walking distance and an easy walk or drive to many dining out options. Guest access The Silverdale area, just 5 miles away is AONB and the Lake District, 25 mins drive, is a world heritage site full of it's own unique set of attractions. The stunning Yorkshire Dales is just 20 minutes drive too as are the Howgills. Closer to home the millpond backs onto the Lancaster/Kendal canal and you can walk or cycle in either direction. This is a quiet rural neighbourhood with free on street parking. The Smithy Inn, which does decent beer and food, is an easy 1k walk and there are many dining out / take away options just a short drive. If stunning scenery and the rural life is your thing, this place has it all. During your stay I'm usually out climbing, walking or cycling in the local area but can be contacted if there are any questions or issues. Other things to note This is a 200 year old property with some low ceilings and narrow stairs. This room is on the first floor.
