The Mas de Gratte Semelle is an old Provençal building dating from the 12th century, on the southern foothills of Montagnette, close to the Abbey of Frigolet. It takes its name from the visit of Napoleon and Joséphine de Beauharnais to Our Lady of Good Remedy of the Abbey of Frigolet. They stopped at Gratte Semelle, formerly called the Mas de la Madone, and they had to scrape their muddy soles from the swamps of the plain. This house has been in our family for a century.
