Description
A tranquil stay in our Vintage French styled Shepherds Hut at Wildflower Cottage, called "Ooh La La". A lot of thought has been put into our hand built Shepherds Hut with guest's comfort prioritised. Inside there is tea and coffee making facilities, a table and chairs, wood burner, comfy double bed and plenty of storage. Please note, the Shepherds Hut is accessed by three steps with a handrail. The space Wildflower Cottage is our home, set in 1 and 1/3 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, and our own miniature railway. When originally brought in 1997, Wildflower Cottage was a derelict milking parlour and open field for the grazing cows. We have been busy since then, the milking parlour has been renovated into our family home, and the open field has been transformed into our much-loved garden. We are very proud to have added 3 fish ponds with multiple bridges, an aviary, wildflower meadow, and woodlands - planting over 1000 trees and plants in the past 20+ years. Creating our sunken garden even gave us enough material to build a cob house! With an array of plants, flowers and animals, it really is an our own paradise. A personal interest of my own, "Wildflower Garden Railway" is our hand-built 1/4 mile miniature train track added in 2010 which runs around our garden. With a turning circle and tunnel, and nods to a proper railway station, even our benches are railway themed! We have two ride-on miniature trains on site, "Rattler" the diesel train and "Fred" the steam train. Both are available for rides, just ask us for a go! In 2014, we built "Ooh La La", our Shepherds Hut for friends to visit, and then in 2015 we had the opportunity renovate a Gypsy Caravan, which we loving turned into "Poppet". We opened up for guests to stay in 2015, and since then we have built the bathroom block based on a Victorian Railway waiting room, as well as "The Chill Out House" for our guests to relax in a living room and cook in the kitchenette. With fishes, doves, ducks, turtles, our very friendly family dog Alfie and much more, there's also plenty of wildlife on site. Due to the landscape, we ask that all pets and children are supervised at all times. Please note the ponds are open access and do not have safety barriers. We look forward to welcoming you to our home and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Guest access We have two places to stay on the lawn, our Shepherds Hut "Ooh La La", and our Gypsy Caravan "Poppet", so please be aware you may be sharing the space with other guests. However your tiny home, outdoor eating area and bathroom are your own. Guests use their own private bathroom, "Poppet" the Gypsy Caravan to the left, and "Ooh La La" the Shepherds Hut to the right. Guest have keys to lock their own bathroom. There is also a communal WC by "The Chill Out House". "The Chill Out House" is a communal space with outdoor seating by one of our fish ponds, TV and sofa area, and kitchen. The kitchen has a sink, gas hob, toaster, kettle, microwave, refrigerator and cleaning products. Guests have access to the whole garden, except past the bridge on the fish pond as this is where our private home is. Rides on the train are available on request. Please note, this is a hobby rather than for commercial use, so guests are responsible for their own safety and we cannot take liability for any damages. We have named parking on site for you. Other things to note Need space for more guests? We also have a Gypsy Caravan which you can book, just check out our other listing. Booking both means you have the whole place to yourself. We also have space for tents by the Shepherds Hut which is bookable for an additional fee in addition to your booking. Please message us to add this to your booking.
