The Three Doves: River views, birdsong & sunsets

The Three Doves is our family home and smallholding, tucked beside the River Severn near Awre. Two old Cowsheds have been converted into comfortable cottages; this one sleeps four, with a king bedroom and twin. Outside are apple orchards, Burford Brown chickens and our kitchen garden, where we grow produce for Post, our restaurant in nearby Newnham. Footpaths lead from the door across the fields and along the Severn, with the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley close by. The space The south-facing French windows open onto the old apple orchards, while the north-facing windows look down towards the Severn. The bedroom has a generous super-king bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen, a chest of drawers and pegs for hanging clothes. The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, Bramley bath and body products and plenty of large white towels. The kitchen and sitting room are warm and simple, with underfloor heating throughout and a wood-burning stove, with starter firewood provided. There are books and board games, a Smart TV, radio and Bose speaker. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, with an electric hob and oven, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster, as well as a cafetière and Lavazza espresso machine. Outside is a small private garden with a table and chairs and a charcoal barbecue beneath the orchard with plenty of fruit to take home. A laundry room (accessed from outside) is shared with the neighbouring Cowshed and has a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and clothes airers. Guest access Don't clean your car before you arrive - the farm track down to us is exactly that and you occasionally even need a little patience whilst the cows or sheep move out of your way... The Severn has an enormous tidal range so shift any expectations of swimming to the nearby Wye! Other things to note I'm afraid we aren't a suitable spot for pets.
