Description

Driftwood Treehouse is a birders/surfers/artists paradise overlooking Kwelera Nature Reserve, a short walk to the sea. Be refreshed in nature after a days work. Work/travel compliant. The bedroom is upstairs reached via broad outside steps as shown in the photos, onto a deck surrounded by foliage. In the bedroom is a queen-sized bed, plus a single on request. The toilet is en-suite and there is a bath. Downstairs is the kitchen, rustic covered braai area and a beach shower. The space The Treehouse was created with quality finishes and meticulous attention to detail by cabinet maker/boatbuilder/sculptor George Kockott. Enjoy a soak in a cast iron bath tucked under the eaves in your bedroom and watch the curious antics of the monkeys outside. Hang your towel on the giant kudu horns above. Or shower in a private bower of wild ginger outside. The kitchen/diner is colourfully decorated with an under counter fridge, electric oven and two plate stove. There’s a sheltered barbecue area by the kitchen or cook under the stars in the garden. No TV to spoil the atmosphere but there is WiFi, and of course hot water and electricity! Guest access Guests are v welcome to use the garden. A garden of contemplation with labyrinth and Japanese water feature was designed by British artist and place maker Sara Mark in 2017 and built by owner George Kockott. The adjacent art studio often hosts visiting artists and displays George’s own work and we’d be happy to show guests around. Our own house is a contrast to the rustic simplicity of the Treehouse, being a modern architect designed concrete and glass building yet tucked behind the dunes out of sight. Featured with the Treehouse in Home Magazine, interested guests are welcome to request a tour! Other things to note The deck is not toddler proof and the steps may be challenging for the elderly. If in doubt we recommend booking our Forest House which is on one level. Parking is by the main house and the cottages are about a 70m walk.
