Description
A beautiful fully self-catered secluded hideaway cottage with absolutely beautiful views for two people. Set on the tidal Island of Davaar, guests can enjoy over two hundred acres with unrivalled sea views, beautiful walks and total peace and quiet. Choose either central heating or fire up the wood burning stove for that proper cottage experience. Pets are welcome and by arrangement -£25 pet surcharge per pet. The space The Lookout is a former wartime lookout post nestled on a hilltop 100 yards above the Lighthouse with superb long-distance views up Kilbrannan Sound and across to Arran and Ailsa Craig. This one bedroom cottage is unique and charming with many features retained from its time as a war time Lookout. On the ground floor there is a cosy kitchen/sitting room with all modern amenities as well as a wood burning stove, providing the perfect setting for a peaceful break or romantic getaway. There is a comfortable 5ft double bed also on the ground floor with en-suite shower room and wc. Ned and Toni (your hosts) caretake the Island with their dogs Dudley & Binley. They live in the furthest part of the compound building which is quite separate from the rest of The Lighthouse area. Ned & Toni will greet you at the beginning and end of your stay, and are available for any queries or to help during your stay but otherwise you will be very much in solitude. Providing privacy & peace to our guests is very important to us! There is another holiday cottage - ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Cottage’ sleeping 2-4 which is available for holiday lets. Both are entirely separate and private from each other. On the 2nd floor there is a wonderful Observatory from which the outstanding views can be enjoyed through the resident telescope and guests can relax in the comfortable seating complete with ample supply of reading and art materials. One of the original features retained is an internal ladder through a hatch joining the sitting room and the observatory upstairs (unsuitable for infirm or children). Leading off the observatory is a roof terrace which provides a wonderful place to sit on sunny days or on clear nights, stargazing next to the fire pit can be an unforgettable experience. Guest access Guests are welcome to roam freely and enjoy the whole Island….explore a network of stunning trails, caves, summits, rocky coastline and an abundance of wildlife. On booking, island caretakers Toni & Ned will email and advise on the best collection time and send details of our dedicated parking area on the mainland. Ned will then transport you and your luggage across the causeway to the cottage and the same will happen at the end of your stay. Please bring as much luggage as you might need as we have a large vehicle which can accommodate quite a load. Some guests also choose to walk the causeway and meet their luggage at the other end. It makes for a lovely walk at the end of a long journey! Please note you cannot drive your own vehicle across the causeway. Normal vehicles will get stuck due to sand/shingle. We cannot be responsible for towing you out! We arrange transport in our 4x4 with an experienced driver. Thank you!
